  • Patent number: 4608746
Abstract: The invention is a wire harness fabrication apparatus for use in the manual fabrication of wire harnesses and as a wire receiving member for use in combination with an automated factory cell. The apparatus is a rotatable cylindrical member with a continuous surface upon which the wire is disposed. The wire is secured to the continuous surface by clamps and the various branches of the harness are defined by further clamps and routing pins. The various lengths of wire are secured to the surface as the cylindrical member rotates about a generally horizontal axis. Upon completion of the fabrication of the wire harness, the cylindrical member is rotated in the opposite direction to remove the wire harness.

  • Patent number: 4557663
Abstract: A programmable assembly system for performing any of a variety of operations for different batch assemblies wherein at least some of the batches have different end points is obtained by using a limited capability, high reliable, high speed pick and place robot 30 mounted on a machine base 10 which has the capability of shifting its table 14 in any of three perpendicular directions so that any style changeover between batches the machine base is operated in a program manner to set up for a different batch operation.

  • Patent number: 4202739
Abstract: Deburring, polishing, surface forming and the like are carried out by electrochemical machining with conformable electrode means including an electrically conducting and an insulating web. The surface of the work to be processed is covered by a deformable electrically insulating web or cloth which is perforated and conforms with the work. The web is covered by a deformable perforated electrically conducting screen electrode which also conforms with, and is insulated from, the work by the insulating web. An electrolyte is conducted through the electrode and insulating web and along the work through a perforated elastic member which engages the electrode under pressure pressing the electrode and web against the work. High current under low voltage is conducted betwen the electrode and work through the insulator, removing material from the work.
