Abstract: An input interface for an electronic device is disclosed. The input interface includes a touch-sensitive switch supported by a board member. The input interface further includes a push-sensitive switch supported by a circuit board. The board member and circuit board will typically be generally planar and included within substantially parallel layers of the input interface. The touch-sensitive switch and push-sensitive switch form a switch pair that may be associated with a display control function invoked upon actuation of both of the switches.

Abstract: A method and/or apparatus improves the speed of searching for a specific text item in an alphabetized text list during up and/or down navigation of the alphabetized text list. The method provides controlled navigation through a text list depending, for example, on the amount of time that user input is received or an appropriate button is actuated, and/or list characteristics such as the number of text items per letter of the alphabet. The method may be implemented on a portable audio data player, PC or other electronic device.

Abstract: A method for creating a playlist uses audio clips (i.e. a segment or portion of predetermined or selectable audio content from an audio data file) for audio data file recognition. Attributes of an audio clip may be selectable by the user such as length of playing time, audio file portion, an audio file category, data in an ID3 tag or the like. A user interface allows the user to add identifying data representative of an audio data file associated with an audio clip to the playlist. The method is applicable to all types of devices that play back audio content from a multitude of stored audio content. In particular, the method includes playback of an audio clip from each one of a set of audio data files during the playing of the audio clip. During playback of a particular audio clip, the user may add the selection to the playlist. Particularly, identifying data representative of an audio file associated with the currently playing audio clip is added to the playlist in response to user input.
