  • Patent number: 4259370
Abstract: A magnesium fluoride or Inconel adhesion promoting overcoat is applied to an injection molded acrylic polygon having a multiplicity of smooth facet faces in order to apply a subsequent reflective thin coating such as aluminum to the polygonal faces. The multi-faceted high speed polygonal scanner thus provided is employed in flying spot scanning applications. The system thus provided is found to involve low cost production and to provide high quality scanning devices.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: March 31, 1981
    Inventor: Tibor Fisli
  • Patent number: 4241990
Abstract: A multi-purpose optical data processor has shared optics for selective performing light/lens xerographic copying in accordance with a line-by-line scanning pattern and laser reading and writing in accordance with a raster scanning pattern. Among the laser reading and writing functions which such an optical data processor can perform are laser input scanning and laser xerographic printing, and laser photographic and thermographic recording.

  • Patent number: 4205100
Abstract: A system for providing multi-faceted high speed polygonal scanners is provided which comprises fabricating an aluminum polygonal scanner and thereafter electrolessly plating the scanner with nickel. A preferred specific aluminum alloy is also disclosed in addition to methods of employing these multi-faceted polygonal scanners in flying spot scanning applications.

  • Patent number: 4101365
Abstract: A high speed multi-faceted polygonal scanner is provided by injection molding. An adhesion promoting coating is applied to the injection molded acrylic polygon in order to accept subsequently applied thin reflective coating of for example aluminum which provides the finished faces of the multi-faceted scanner. Methods of employing these scanning systems in flying spot applications are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4093350
Abstract: A thin film plastic is centrifugally cast against an aluminum preform which is placed in a precisely machined polygonal master in a conventional replica process. The plastic which may be an epoxy material is applied to the preform master assembly with centrifugal force causing it to impact in the cavity between the preform and the master to produce a bubble-free layer. Thus, a high speed multifaceted polygonal scanning system is provided which may be employed in a flying spot scanning application.

  • Patent number: 4021897
Abstract: Precisely prefabricated glass plates are cemented on a precisely machined aluminum polygon employing ultraviolet sensitive cement. Each glass plate is aligned precisely and then fixed in place by application of U-V radiation which fixes the cement and thereby permanently affixes the glass plate to the aluminum polygon. Methods of employing this scanning system in flying spot scanning applications are also disclosed.
