  • Patent number: 5203410
Abstract: A blowout safety system particularly preferred for use in providing emergency protection when blowouts occur during snubbing operations due to unexpected surges in downhole pressure. The safety system comprises a spring biased valve assembly having a flapper adapted to seal off the upward flow of well fluids through the wellhead immediately upon expulsion of the well tubulars when a blowout occurs, and a port within the valve assembly for simultaneously diverting the upward flow of well fluids to a location remote from the well when the flapper closes.

  • Patent number: 5115861
Abstract: A tubing guide provides a window for installing or removing equipment on a tubing. The guide has pipe guards which are mounted for swinging movement to and away from support position and provides for easy installation and removal of inserts in the upper and lower beams to which the pipe guards are attached when guiding tubing.

  • Patent number: 5002130
Abstract: A system for handling a reeled tubing including a guide, a shear for cutting the tubing and a tubing injector including upper and lower strippers and guides and an enclosure for the injector. The enclosure in one form excludes sea water in an open bottomed enclosure and the other maintains pressure in a completely closed enclosure.

  • Patent number: 4421286
Abstract: A mooring system for controlling an aerostat. The mooring system can be easily aligned with the prevailing wind direction while the aerostat is flying or when moored. The mooring system can either be a fixed, permanent ground installation or a mobile installation. All winches required to control the aerostat during flight and to secure the aerostat to the mooring system are powered from the same source. A nose receptacle is included as part of the mooring system to allow the aerostat to carry a heavier payload. The mooring system includes a main winch system to control flight of the aerostat and close haul and nose line winches to aid in securing the aerostat.

  • Patent number: 4095424
Abstract: A nonlinear hydraulic pump control provides a primary control output as a mechanical actuator arm displacement either side of a neutral or "Off" position. A secondary control, also cam activated, operates in selectable offset sequence with the primary output, with the offset magnitude being selectively adjustable and effected either symmetrically about the primary control neutral position or differentially with respect thereto. The secondary control is useful in starting, stopping, or modulating accessory gear which cooperates with the pump operation, such as brake release control for a hydraulic winch to assure controlling hydraulic pressure buildup prior to brake release for both inhaul and outhaul operations where the winch cable is constantly subjected to tension loading.

  • Patent number: 4091867
Abstract: A system for injecting a flexible conduit into a well against the pressure of the well. The system includes a connection which is in communication with the well and aligned with the well; a drive mechanism also in communication with the well but not aligned with the well; and a curved guide between the connection and the drive mechanism for guiding movement of the flexible conduit between a direction aligned with the drive mechanism and a direction aligned with the well. This abstract is neither intended to define the scope of the invention, which, of course, is measured by the claims, nor is it intended to be limiting in any way.
