The method includes: A terminal receives configuration information sent by a network device, where the configuration information is used to indicate one or more uplink signal resources; the terminal sends an uplink signal based on the configuration information, and the network device measures the uplink signal and determines beam quality of an uplink resource corresponding to the uplink signal; and the network device sends a first response message to the terminal based on a measurement result of the uplink signal when a beam failure occurs, so that the terminal determines that a beam failure recovery succeeds. The technical solutions in this application are applicable to the BFR procedure.

    Abstract: This application provides a communication method and a communication apparatus. The method includes: receiving first information, where the first information indicates a manner of obtaining a timing advance (TA) of a first cell; and obtaining the TA of the first cell based on the first information. According to the technical solution provided in this application, the obtaining manner of obtaining the TA of the first cell is configured for the terminal apparatus based on the first information. Therefore, before receiving a cell handover command, the terminal apparatus may obtain the TA of the first cell in the manner indicated by the first information, to complete uplink synchronization with the first cell. Therefore, after the terminal apparatus is handed over to the first cell, it may no longer perform the uplink synchronization process. Therefore, a handover delay of handover to the first cell can be reduced.

    Abstract: Embodiments of this application provide a beam failure processing method and apparatus. The method includes: When a beam failure of a first cell is determined, if a beam failure of a second cell is further determined before beam failure recovery of the first cell succeeds, preferentially perform beam recovery of a primary cell in the first cell and the second cell. The first cell is the primary cell and the second cell is the secondary cell, or the first cell is the secondary cell and the second cell is the primary cell. It can be learned from the foregoing process that when beam failures occur in both the primary cell and the secondary cell, this application can ensure that communication of the primary cell is preferentially recovered to be normal, thereby minimizing impact caused by beam failures of a plurality of cells.
