  • Patent number: 8315408
Abstract: An electronic audio device with a digital audio output channel in which an amplifier output voltage is gradually ramped up and down to avoid causing a popping sound when the device is turned on and off. This is accomplished without employing any additional hardware, by incrementally changing a digital input word applied to a digital audio source, such as a DSP, so as to gradually change the amplifier output voltage between a minimum, such as zero volts, and a DC working voltage. On powering up, the amplifier is only turned on after the digital word is applied, but while it still results in a minimum amplifier output, and on powering down the amplifier is turned off after it's output has been ramped down, but before removing the digital input word. Sources and output channels can also be switched over by powering down, and then powering up, following the same method.

  • Patent number: 8285593
Abstract: Identifying one or more source units for one or more food items may include assigning a sequence of numbers to a plurality of source units received at a processing entity and assigning a sequence of numbers to a plurality of end product units processed from the plurality of source units at the processing entity. A production rate associated with the end product units may be determined from a bill of materials associated with the end product units. A probability distribution function may be generated using at least the production rate. The probability distribution function maps a range of the sequence numbers associated with the plurality of source units to a range of sequence numbers associated with the end product units. A conversion algorithm may be generated that uses the probability distribution function to determine a source unit associated with a selected end product unit.

  • Publication number: 20120106739
Abstract: A system and method for securing wireless communications are provided. A method for secure communications by a first user includes estimating a channel between the first user and a second user based on a pilot signal transmitted by the second user, determining a first threshold and a second threshold based on the estimate of channel, selecting a first subset of channel estimates, signaling the first subset of channel estimates to the second user, receiving a second subset of channel estimates from the second user, for each channel estimate in the second subset of channel estimates, quantizing the channel estimate based on a relationship between a gain of the channel estimate and the first threshold and the second threshold, generating a first secret key based on quantized channel estimates, verifying that the first secret key matches a second secret key generated by the second user, and transmitting information to the second user.

  • Publication number: 20120101972
Abstract: Irregular food manufacturing detection by using conversion pattern in one aspect generates one or more rules associated with amount of resources used to manufacture a food product, collects data associated with a selected manufacturing process of the food product at a selected manufacturer and determines whether the collected data complies with the generated one or more rules. Irregularity may be identified if the collected data does not comply with the generated one or more rules.

  • Publication number: 20110211696
Abstract: A system and method for securing wireless transmissions is provided. A method for transmitting secure messages by a transmitter includes encoding a message with a secrecy code to produce L output codewords, where L is an integer value greater than one. The secrecy code includes a first security code and a second security code. The method also includes transmitting one of the L output codewords to a communications device when a channel quality of a channel between the transmitter and the communications device satisfies a criterion, and repeating the transmitting for any remaining L?1 output codewords.

  • Patent number: 7940985
Abstract: Methods for detecting a salient object in an input image are described. For this, the salient object in an image may be defined using a set of local, regional, and global features including multi-scale contrast, center-surround histogram, and color spatial distribution. These features are optimally combined through conditional random field learning. The learned conditional random field is then used to locate the salient object in the image. The methods can also use image segmentation, where the salient object is separated from the image background.
