  • Publication number: 20090131966
Abstract: A lancing device (10) comprises a main housing (12), a moveable housing (14) and one or more contacting members (68a, 68b, 66a, 66b). The main housing forms an inner cavity (24) enclosing a portion of a lancing mechanism. The lancing mechanism includes a lancet holder (36) attached to a shaft (38) having an enlarged end (40). The main housing further encloses a drive spring (42) surrounding a portion of the shaft. The lancing mechanism is adapted to move between resting, cocking and puncture positions. The movable housing is adjacent the main housing and moves from a resting position to a cocking position. The moveable housing forms an inner cavity (26) enclosing a portion of the shaft of the lancing mechanism. The contacting member is enclosed within the lancing device. The contacting member has a damping pad (68a, 68b) and a stopper (66a, 66b) and engages a portion of the lancing mechanism when moved from the cocking position to the puncture position.

  • Publication number: 20090069753
Abstract: A pen needle hub and cover for a pen needle assembly that provides tactile and/or audible indicia of proper attachment between the hub of the pen needle and the pen is provided. Such indicia substantially prevent under- and over-torquing of the pen needle. The tactile indicia may include a user sensing a wave of a torque of peak value followed by a torque of lesser value.

  • Publication number: 20080181818
Abstract: This invention relates to a test sensor cartridge assembly that dispenses test sensors individually while shortening the distance of the lateral movement required to eject the sensor. A stationary gear rack is affixed to a surface with a moveable gear rack positioned parallel to the stationary gear rack. The moveable gear rack is adapted to engage the test sensor. A gear is positioned between and contacts the stationary gear rack and the moveable gear rack. The lateral movement of the gear in a first direction generates rotational movement by the gear. Both the lateral and rotational movement move the moveable gear rack laterally in the first direction. The lateral movement of the gear rack in the first direction ejects a test sensor from a test sensor cartridge.

  • Publication number: 20080167673
Abstract: An end cap is removably attachable to a lancing device and comprises an end cap, a plurality of release buttons, and a plurality of engagement mechanisms. The end cap has an external surface. The plurality of release buttons is accessible from external the end cap housing. Each of the plurality of engagement mechanisms is attached to one of the plurality of release buttons. The plurality of engagement mechanisms is adapted to engage a lancet assembly. The depression of the plurality of release buttons towards the external surface of the end cap housing causes the plurality of engagement mechanisms to engage the lancet assembly.

  • Publication number: 20080164280
Abstract: A dispensing mechanism is adapted to eject a test sensor from a cartridge opening formed in a cartridge containing test sensors. The dispensing mechanism comprises a gear rack, a gear, and a wheel. The gear rack includes a first portion and a second portion located generally parallel to one another. The second portion of the gear rack includes a first plurality of teeth. The gear includes a second plurality of teeth that are adapted to be engaged by the first plurality of teeth upon movement of the gear rack. The wheel is operatively engaged by the gear and is adapted to dispense the test sensor from the cartridge opening and to seal the cartridge opening. The movement of the gear rack in a first direction causes the gear to rotate causing the wheel to rotate. The rotation of the wheel dispenses the test sensor through the cartridge opening.

  • Publication number: 20080140105
Abstract: A lancing device comprises a lancet assembly and a lancet holder. The lancet assembly has a groove formed thereon. The lancet holder forms a central aperature adapted to receive the lancet assembly. The lancet holder includes a ridge extending into the central aperture. The ridge is adapted to engage the groove of the lancet assembly. The lancet holder is adapted to move the lancet assembly between a resting position, a cocking position, and a puncture position.
