Patent number: 9665217Abstract: Certain aspects relate to systems and techniques for scan control for scanning a touch panel. The scan control system can alternate adaptively between scanning the touch panel in a passive scan mode requiring minimal power and in a focused active scan mode that sequentially scans only a portion of the touch panel. The scan control system can monitor the absolute capacitance of some or all of the sensors of the touch panel in passive scan mode and can monitor the mutual capacitance of a portion of the touch panel in focused active scan mode. If the absolute capacitance of any sensor is greater than the baseline capacitance, then the scan control can use this absolute capacitance touch data to determine one or more sub-regions of the touch panel for scanning in focused active scan mode. The mutual capacitance touch data can be used for determining features of the touch event.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 2014Date of Patent: May 30, 2017Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Khosro Mohammad Rabii, Suhail Jalil, Mohamed Imtiaz Ahmed, Dat Tien Pham

Publication number: 20140160054Abstract: Described herein are methods and devices that employ a predefined class of anchor-drag touches to minimize host processor use in a mobile computing device. As described, detecting anchor-drag touch gestures enables the touch screen controller to handle a large portion of touch processing, even in mobile devices with larger displays. A first touch establishes an anchor area, from which a drag area is calculated, and a second touch within the drag area provides a command to the device. Some embodiments may limit subsequent touch processing to the identified drag area.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 6, 2012Publication date: June 12, 2014Applicant: QUALCOMM INCORPORATEDInventors: Khosro Rabii, Dat Tien Pham

Patent number: 7268587Abstract: A programmable logic block provides N-bit and M-bit (e.g., (N/2)-bit) lookahead functionality for carry chains traversing the logic block, N and M being integers greater than one. An exemplary programmable logic block includes four carry multiplexers that together form a 4-bit lookahead carry chain. The 4-bit lookahead carry chain also provides a 2-bit lookahead output after the second carry multiplexer. Alternatively, the last two bits of the 4-bit lookahead carry chain can be used as a 2-bit lookahead carry chain. In one embodiment, the programmable logic block also includes four function generators associated with the four carry multiplexers. Each function generator drives a select terminal of the associated carry multiplexer. The 4-bit and 2-bit carry chains can be programmably coupled to an interconnect structure of the PLD at the carry out output terminals. In some embodiments, an initialization value can also be provided to the 4-bit and 2-bit carry chains.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 2005Date of Patent: September 11, 2007Assignee: Xilinx, Inc.Inventors: Tien Pham, Manoj Chirania, Venu M.
