  • Patent number: 7725896
Abstract: A scheduler schedules a plurality of periodic events. Each periodic event has an associated periodic interval of time and an associated set of services. The scheduler determines when one of the plurality of periodic events occurs and distributes the execution of the services associated with that periodic event during a next periodic interval of time associated with that periodic event following the occurrence of that periodic event. The services can be enabled and disabled. This allows the services to be executed, for example, in one-shot, burst, and continuous modes.

  • Patent number: 7254217
Abstract: A fault associated with a communication medium is analyzed by correlating a first set of information indicative of echo associated with the communication medium with a second set of information indicative of echo. The fault is characterized based on the correlation between the first set of information and the second set of information. The first set of information and the second set of information can include echo canceller coefficients generated by an echo canceller coupled to the communication medium.

  • Patent number: 7051249
Abstract: A bit error rate or other performance characteristic of a communication link is monitored using a state machine. The state machine includes at least three states — for example, a NO ALARM state, an ALARM DETECTION state, and an ALARM state. A sliding window is used to determine when to transition from the ALARM DETECTION state to the NO ALARM state or the ALARM state. A sliding window is also used to determine when to transition from an ALARM state to a NO ALARM state. A respective sum is calculated as a function of the sliding window for use in making such determinations.

  • Patent number: 5720561
Abstract: A line printer having a hammerbank with hammers that are held by a permanent magnet and released by electrically driven coils. The temperature of the coils is determined by the relative resistance of the coils to provide an output equivalent to the temperature of said coils. The resistance is determined as a function of the current through the coils or voltage of the coils which is converted from an analog to a digital value. The attendant method of determining temperature of the coils in the hammerbank is by comparing a pre-established current or voltage value based upon a pre-established temperature of the coil with the current passing through the coil during operation of the hammerbank. The comparison of the current passing through the coil during operation with the pre-established current is provided to a controller for controlling the printer in response to the current differential between the currents which is in turn a function of the operating temperature.
