  • Publication number: 20220124478
Abstract: Example implementations relate to registering a Visitor Location Register (VLR) at a Home Location Register (HLR). A request from a VLR may be received. The received request may be a request to update a location record of a subscriber associated with a subscriber profile at a database. A record of the database may be checked to determine whether the requesting VLR is a flagged VLR. Responsive to determining that the VLR is flagged, a cancelation of a currently registered VLR may be delayed. The delay may include maintaining the registration of the currently registered VLR while attempting to register the subscriber at the requesting VLR. Where the requesting VLR is successfully registered, the currently registered VLR may be canceled.

  • Patent number: 10542413
Abstract: In some examples, a computer-readable medium includes instructions. The instructions may be executable by a processing resource to maintain a default roaming restrictions database that stores default roaming restriction attributes specific to roaming classes of service defined by a network operator. The default roaming restriction attributes may be specific to the roaming classes of service independent of mobile country code and mobile network code. The instructions may also be executable by the processing resource to perform a lookup into the default roaming restrictions database to identify a particular default roaming restriction attribute specific to a particular roaming class of service defined by the network operator.

  • Patent number: 10433154
Abstract: Examples herein redirect a message intended for a subscriber from a non-registered component to a home component. Examples disclose receiving, by the non-registered component, a message intended for the subscriber. The non-registered component is a component at which the subscriber did not register to gain network access. The non-registered component processes a data attribute within a profile corresponding to that subscriber. The data attribute indicates a home component at which the subscriber is registered to gain network access. The non-registered component redirects the message intended for the subscriber to the home component based on the data attribute.

  • Patent number: 9485646
Abstract: A roaming condition is detected on a wireless device, in which the wireless device is operational in a region where the wireless device is not permitted in have wireless services other than a designated minimal set of services. A service request message is generated on the wireless device. The service request can be structured for handing by a home region service provider that can initiate one or more wireless services for the computing device using a local service provider for the region. The service request message can be transmitted from the computing device using the designated minimal set of services.

  • Patent number: 9338654
Abstract: A method and corresponding apparatus and system of controlling access to communication services by a roaming wireless device are described. The method includes receiving a request for roaming wireless device service information related to a roaming user and determining which services the user has access to for the requesting system, if the user is determined to have access to the requesting system. The method also includes transmitting user service information concerning the services to which the user has access. The apparatus includes a memory, a communication system, and a processor. The memory stores: (1) user information including a class of service (COS) identifier and (2) COS restriction information. The processing system, coupled with the communication system and the memory, generates a reply message based on comparing information in a service request message received by the communication system with the stored information in the memory.

  • Patent number: 8972455
Abstract: System and method for traffic surge control. A control message may be received for registering or managing a device in a network. A measure of a number of current control messages already being processed in the network may be retrieved. A condition may be retrieved, from among a plurality of conditions, that corresponds to the retrieved measure of current control messages, each condition defining different rules for discarding a control message of the same type and corresponding to one of a plurality of measures of current control messages. Based on whether or not the retrieved condition is met, the control message may be processed to register or manage the device or discarded.

  • Patent number: 8768351
Abstract: Example embodiments disclosed herein relate to implementing circuit-switched call delivery. A mobile terminating call for user equipment (UE) is received. A first mobile switching center is determined to perform a first call termination attempt for the mobile terminating call by sending a provide roaming number (PRN) request with a pre-paging supported parameter to the first MSC. The first call termination attempt can include instructing the UE to return to a CS network domain to receive the call. A message indicating that the UE is not connected to the first MSC is received. It is determined whether the UE is in a registration process within a duration of time. If the registration succeeds, a second call termination attempt for the mobile terminating call is made via the second MSC.
