  • Publication number: 20070014297
Abstract: In one embodiment, a channel in a frame of the audio signal is subdivided into a plurality of blocks according to a subdivision hierarchy. The subdivision hierarchy has more than one level, and each level is associated with a different block length. At least two of the blocks have different lengths. First subdivision information indicating whether the channel has been subdivided is generated, and second subdivision information is generated if the subdividing has been performed. The second subdivision information indicates the subdivision of the channel into the blocks.

  • Publication number: 20070011004
Abstract: In one embodiment, channel mapping information is added to configuration information for the audio signal. The channel mapping information indicates to which speaker in a reproduction device to map each channel in the audio signal. For example, the channel mapping information may include a plurality of bits where each bit is associated with a speaker and indicates whether a channel exists in the audio signal for the associated speaker.

  • Publication number: 20070009105
Abstract: In one embodiment, at least first and second channels in a frame of the audio signal are independently subdivided into blocks if the first and second channels are not correlated with each other. The first and second channels are corresponding subdivided into blocks such that the lengths of the blocks into which the second channel is subdivided correspond to the lengths of the blocks into which the first channel is subdivided if the first and second channels are correlated with each other. First information may be generated to indicate the subdivision of the channel into the blocks and the first information is generated commonly for first and second channels when the channels are correlated, and the first information is generated respectively for each of first and second channels when the channels are not correlated.

The subdivision hierarchy has more than one level, and each level being associated with a different block length. At least two of the blocks have different lengths. First subdivision information may be generated indicating a number of levels in the subdivision hierarchy, and second subdivision information may be generated indicating the subdivision of the channel into the blocks. A length of the second subdivision information depends on the first subdivision information.

  • Publication number: 20070011013
Abstract: In one embodiment, at least one audio data frame having at least one channel is generated. Each channel is divided into a plurality of blocks. A sub-block partitioning scheme is selected, and a number of sub-blocks into which the block is to be partitioned is selected. The selected number of sub-blocks is chosen from numbers of sub-blocks available for the selected sub-block partitioning scheme. The block of audio data is partitioned into sub-blocks according to the selected number of sub-blocks, and the partitioned sub-blocks are coded according to a selected entropy coding scheme.

  • Publication number: 20070009233
Abstract: In one embodiment, random access unit information is added to an audio signal including a plurality of random access units. Each random access unit includes a number of frames and at least one of the frames being a random access frame. Each random access frame is a frame encoded such that previous frames are not necessary to decode the random access frame. The random access unit information indicates a distance between at least two of the random access frames in, bytes.

  • Publication number: 20070010996
Abstract: In one embodiment, at least first and second channels in a frame of the audio signal are independently subdivided into blocks if the first and second channels are not correlated with each other. The first and second channels are corresponding subdivided into blocks such that the lengths of the blocks into which the second channel is subdivided correspond to the lengths of the blocks into which the first channel is subdivided if the first and second channels are correlated with each other. First information may be generated to indicate whether the first and second channels are independently subdivided or correspondingly subdivided.

  • Publication number: 20070010995
Abstract: In one embodiment, at least first and second channels in a frame of the audio signal are independently subdivided into blocks if the first and second channels are not correlated with each other. At least two of the blocks have different block lengths. Furthermore, the first and second channels are correspondingly subdivided into blocks such that the lengths of the blocks into which the second channel is subdivided correspond to the lengths of the blocks into which the first channel is subdivided if the first and second channels are correlated with each other. At least two of the blocks have different block lengths.

  • Publication number: 20070008193
Abstract: In one embodiment, a block of audio data is partitioned into N sub-blocks, and a plurality of code parameters s(0), s(1), . . . s(N?1) are determined. The N sub-blocks are entropy encoded using a plurality of entropy codes defined by the plurality of code parameters, and the code parameters are transmitted. The code parameters may be transmitted by directly transmitting s(0) representing the code parameter of the first sub-block, and transmitting a difference s(i)?s(i?1) for i=1, . . . N?1, s(i) representing the code parameter of an ith sub-block following the first sub-block.

  • Publication number: 20070011000
Abstract: In one embodiment of the method, a block of digital audio data is stored in a buffer, and a set of parcor values are calculated for the block of digital audio data, Then, the parcor values are entropy encoded for transmission. The entropy coding includes selecting a table including offset values and entropy parameters from a plurality of tables based on a sampling rate of the block of digital audio data, calculating parcor residual values based on offset values from the selected table, and encoding the parcor residual values using entropy codes defined by entropy parameters from the selected table.

  • Publication number: 20070009227
Abstract: In one embodiment, sample information and frame length information are obtained from the audio signal. The sample information indicates a total number of audio data samples for each channel in the audio signal, and the frame length information indicates a number of samples in a frame of each channel. It is determined if a remainder exists if the sample information is divided by the frame length information, and if a remainder exists, the number of frames in the audio signal is determined as an integer value of the sample information divided by the frame information plus one. Also, a length of a last frame may be set based on the remainder if the determining step determines that a remainder exists. The data samples are decoded based on the determined number of frames.
