Abstract: An aircraft communication system is provided that includes: i) a self-contained onboard communication system, the onboard communication system comprising a first peripheral device and an at least one second peripheral device, the first and second peripheral devices each comprising a non-transitory computer-readable medium, having stored thereon a computer program for data communication, the computer program having a plurality of protocols, the protocols being extensible, the protocols executable by a processor to cause the first and second peripheral devices to send data and commands between one another, the first peripheral device further caused to perform the steps of: directly controlling a satellite communication device; directly dialing the satellite communication device; sending data directly to the satellite communication device; and receiving data from the satellite communication device, each of said steps being performed without the assistance of an on-board server.

Abstract: A cylindrical, protective housing and accompanying insertion tool for shielding an in-ground sprinkler head. The cylindrical housing is inserted into the ground surrounding an in-ground sprinkler head, protecting the sprinkler head and subterranean feed lines from damage resulting from yard work or other traffic. The cylindrical housing prevents inadvertently sprinkler head collisions with lawn mowers, wheelbarrows, golf carts, or similarly wheeled vehicles. The insertion tool is a male-fitting press tool that provides vertical loads on the cylindrical housing upper extent to force it into soil surrounding a sprinkler head.

Abstract: The invention provides methods and compositions relating to pen polypeptides having pen-specific structure and activity, related polynucleotides and modulators of pen function. The invention provides isolated pen hybridization probes and primers capable of specifically hybridizing with natural pen genes, pen-specific binding agents such as specific antibodies, and methods of making and using the subject compositions in diagnosis (e.g. genetic hybridization screens for pen transcripts), therapy (e.g. pen inhibitors to modulate APP processing) and in the biopharmaceutical industry (e.g. as immunogens, reagents for screening chemical libraries for lead pharmacological agents, etc.).
