Abstract: Representative implementations of devices and techniques provide a tool that is used to prepare a squished C channel (Drive Cleat) segment for installation on HVAC duct work. In various embodiments, the tool includes a blade at one end of the tool that is configured to fit within the channel of the drive cleat, to open the channel a predetermined amount. Additionally, the tool can include a pocket portion on the other end of the tool that includes an opening for inserting a drive cleat portion into, for bending the drive cleat portion.
