  • Patent number: 8428799
Abstract: A method and system for operating a marine vessel includes a cruise control module operating the marine vessel at a speed and a trim control module positioning an outdrive into a plurality of trim positions. A fuel economy determination module determines a plurality of fuel economies for each of the trim positions and determines an efficient trim position from the plurality of fuel economies for each of the trim positions. An operation control module operates the marine vessel at the efficient trim position. A trim tab position may also be taken into account for efficient operation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 4, 2009
Date of Patent: April 23, 2013
Inventors: Kevin A. Cansiani, Tim J Clever
  • Patent number: 7841173
Abstract: A marine engine control system comprising a water jacket, an outlet sensor, and a control module. The water jacket directs a flow of water across a catalytic converter to cool the catalytic converter. The outlet sensor module measures an actual temperature of the water. The control module determines an expected temperature of the water when the catalytic converter is functional.
