Patent number: 6192983Abstract: This invention provides oilfield spooled coiled tubing production and completion strings assembled at the surface to include sensors and one or more controlled devices which can be tested from a remote location. The devices may have upsets in the coiled tubing. The strings preferably include conductors and hydraulic lines in the coiled tubing. The conductors provide power and data communication between the sensors, devices and surface instrumentation. The coiled tubing strings are preferably tested at the assembly site and transported to the well site one reels. The coiled tubing strings are inserted and retrieved from the wellbores utilizing an adjustable opening injector head system. This invention also provides method of making electro-coiled-tubing wherein upper and lower adapters are connected to the coiled tubing and tested prior to transporting the string to the wellbore. The string preferably includes pressure barriers at both ends of the string.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 1999Date of Patent: February 27, 2001Assignee: Baker Hughes IncorporatedInventors: David H. Patent number: 6026855Abstract: A one-way flow valve quick connector is used in automotive fuel tank filler systems to interconnect the fuel filler tube with the fuel tank without the use of tools or special equipment. The quick connector includes a check valve to establish a substantially hermetic seal between the tank and the environment at all times to prevent the escape of liquid fuel during the refueling process as well as the escape of toxic vapors. A bypass vent operates during the refueling process to draw any vapors escaping from the tank or entering through the fuel fill tube inlet, filtering and returning them to the fuel tank.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 1997Date of Patent: February 22, 2000Assignee: ITT Manufacturing Enterprises, Inc.Inventors: Tim Jackson, Gary Klinger, John Horst

Patent number: 5642244Abstract: A servo gate method and apparatus to allow switching between a servo mode and a data mode in the read channel of a disk drive. The present invention uses a servo gate signal to select components and parameters in the read channel of a disk drive. The servo gate signal, when enabled, preloads appropriate registers with new values and preloads the programmable filter with new values. The servo gate signal is not limited to preloading the above values, but may be used to control many characteristics of a disk drive read channel.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 1994Date of Patent: June 24, 1997Assignee: Texas Instruments IncorporatedInventors: Paul Okada, Tim Jackson, Kirby Lam, Richard Contreras

Patent number: 5416437Abstract: A dual mode charge pump for an AGC circuit is described. The charge pump of the present invention provides normal and accelerated rates of charge and discharge of a capacitor used to control the gain of an AGC amplifier. Current sources for providing accelerated charge and discharge rates are deselected when not needed. Since these current sources consume substantial amounts of power, deselecting them increases efficiency and reduces unnecessary power consumption. The current sources may be deselected internally or may be switched off by a switches in series with the current sources. The present invention also may be used to provide a self-timing function. The self-timing function allows the AGC to acquire the correct gain in an optimum time after initiation by an external control signal.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 1994Date of Patent: May 16, 1995Assignee: Silicon Systems, Inc.Inventors: Richard Contreras, Tim Jackson
