Publication number: 20110269080Abstract: A system for automatically igniting a gas lamp by sensing the presence of a flame according to one embodiment of the present invention may include an igniter, power source, relay, valve controller, pulse-width modulator, and microcontrol unit. The microcontrol unit is connected to the igniter, the power source, the valve controller, the relay, and the pulse-width modulator. The microcontrol unit uses the pulse-width modulator to calibrate a total power supply to the igniter and determines the presence of a flame by sensing an electrical resistance of the igniter to the total power supply. The microcontrol unit also controls the amount of electricity supplied to the igniter through the relay and adjusts the amount of combustible fluid supplied to the igniter through the valve controller to automatically ignite the gas lamp.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 28, 2010Publication date: November 3, 2011Applicant: Rogue Engineering, Inc.Inventors: Abe Shukert, Tim Kirk, Mark Walsh

Publication number: 20060248803Abstract: This invention provides a removable staybar that is securely attached to the window frame and removed easily, with minimal effort after installation of the window, so that the full perimeter of the window frame can be opened and unobstructed for passage of bulky items therethrough. The staybar includes two opposing ends each having a groove and surrounding ramped inner faces. These grooves each pass over a web on a respective attachment member that is fixedly mounted to a side of the window frame. Each web on an attachment member supports a corresponding pair of ramped faces. The ramped faces of each attachment member are oriented so that, when each end of the staybar is moved onto a respective attachment member, the engaging ramped faces cause the ends of the staybar to be forcibly driven toward the adjacent inner-facing sides of the window frame for a tight, abutting fit between the frame faces and respective staybar ends.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 9, 2005Publication date: November 9, 2006Inventors: Tim Kirk, Steve Brooks, Steven Brooker

Patent number: 6499990Abstract: A burner and method for reducing NOx emissions from process heaters, boilers, and other heating systems having flue gases present therein. The inventive burner and method preferably involve the single stage combustion of fuel gas which is ejected outside of a burner wall in free jet flow such that at least a portion of the flue gas is entrained in the fuel gas as it travels to a combustion zone at the forward end of the burner wall. Air or other oxygen-containing gas is preferably delivered to the combustion zone via an interior passageway. The inventive burner preferably comprises a plurality of ejectors positioned outside of the burner wall and preferably also comprises one or more exterior impact structures positioned to assist in further mixing the flue gas with the fuel.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 2001Date of Patent: December 31, 2002Assignee: Zeeco, Inc.Inventors: Darton J. Patent number: 6394792Abstract: An improved burner for combustion of fuel gas with air in a manner to result in low NOx, the burner is generally circular and has a refractory tile and gas tips. The gas tips are spaced around the outer circumference of a generally circular passageway in the burner tile, each gas tip is positioned to cause the fuel gas to entrain furnace flue gas. Each gas tip has one or more ports, an ignition port and at least one firing port. The ignition port injects fuel through a passageway to the burner tile. The firing port injects fuel gas in the direction that is generally upward with respect to the pathway of the ignition port. This causes fuel gas to entrain combustion products from the flue gas, the resulting mixture of fuel gas and flue gas is directed out of the burner tile to mix with combustion air that is discharged through the burner tile.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 2000Date of Patent: May 28, 2002Assignee: Zeeco, Inc.Inventors: John McDonald, Tim Kirk, David J. Surbey, Darton J. Zink
