  • Patent number: 9974557
Abstract: Methods, systems and tools are provided for controllable adjustment of a removal rate of cutting edges of rapidly rotating effectors of manually-guided material- and tissue-separating tools without significantly changing the rotation speed of the effectors or the position, orientation or the geometry of the effectors, and in particular, for precisely maintaining work space boundaries during material and tissue removal with effectors in rapidly rotating machine tools in surgery and freehand manufacturing to produce free-form surfaces. The manually-guided material-separating and tissue-separating tools and effectors allow controllable adjustment of the removal rate of the material-separating cutting edges of the effector by mechanically adjusting a position or orientation of at least one cutting edge cover at a constant rotation speed of the effector without appreciable change of the removal movement.

Abstract: Methods, systems and tools are provided for controllable adjustment of a removal rate of manually-guided material- and tissue-separating tools and effectors which allow control of the removal rate of rapidly rotating tools, without the need to significantly change the rotation speed of the tool or to significantly change the position, orientation or the geometry of the tool, and in particular, for precisely maintaining work space boundaries during material and tissue removal with tools in rapidly rotating machine tools in surgery and freehand manufacturing for producing free-form surfaces.

  • Patent number: 7346417
Abstract: Method and system, for which can be used in the fields of medicine and dentistry as well as for the most varied types of material working in different areas of application and model working, provides that an exact removal of material or a highly precise, reproducible material working can be realized by acquiring, storing and processing data pertaining to position and/or orientation of an effector and their changes relative to the position of at least one reference body. The effector is controlled and/or regulated with regard to its power and/or parameterization based on a predetermined working volume, material volume removed and remaining material volume. A first marking support with markings is arranged on a handpiece with the effector, where the handpiece is connected to a control unit, and a second marking support with markings is attached to the material object or tissue object.

  • Patent number: 7079885
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and device for referencing between a data set, which describes geometrically the spatial model of a body, and the real physical environment in which the body is placed. A three-dimensional position reference body is used on the real body. The position reference body has one or more elementary bodies or markers whose 3-dimensional position can be detected with sensors and which define a fixed geometric reference with respect to the center of gravity of the body or to other body reference volumes. For registration, the position reference body and/or its elementary bodies are correlated in the data model and in the physical world.

  • Patent number: 6626817
Abstract: A method for the positioning of radiation source seeds, spacer seeds and stoppers in tissue using hollow needles. Various seeds that are separately contained in magazines according to the isotope type (e.g., material, dosage, half-life period), are provided to the hollow needle. The individual magazines may be changed by means of a magazine changer. The magazine changer is located in a changer guide in a position which is vertical relative to the direction of injection of the seeds. The location of the needle is measured relative to a location reference block. An optimal seed deposit position is detected acoustically and/or visually and/or in a tactile manner. The selection of a magazine and a seed to be discharged from the magazine is derived from the current position of the needle in the tissue and from a treatment plan for a dosage distribution, which may be established in list form with details on the seed type and the x-y-z-coordinates relative to the location reference block.

  • Publication number: 20020183608
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for instrument, bone segment, tissue and organ navigation. The general problem covered by the invention relates to referencing between a data set (that geometrically describes the spatial model of a body) and the real physical environment in which said body is located. For referencing, a three-dimensional position reference body is used or placed in the real body, said position reference body consisting of one or more elementary bodies (markers) that can be spatially and sensorially detected and defining a fixed geometric reference with respect to the center of gravity of the body or the other reference volumes of the body. A correlation of the position reference body or its elementary body is performed in the data model and in the physical world for registration.
