  • Publication number: 20190309599
Abstract: An improved frac plug apparatus and method for setting a plug in a downhole. In an embodiment, the apparatus comprises an inner cone shaped member having a first end and second end, the inner cone shaped member having a generally increasing outer diameter from the first end, and an expandable outer sleeve having a first end and a second end, the first end of the expandable outer sleeve adapted to receive the first end of the inner cone shaped member and the second end of the expandable outer sleeve having a plurality of fingers joined at their tips at predetermined break points. In use, upon receiving the first end of the inner cone shaped member further into the expandable outer sleeve, the fingers of the expandable outer sleeve are adapted to break at their tips at their predetermined break points and expand outwardly to engage a surface of the downhole.

  • Patent number: 8062081
Abstract: A hybrid propulsion and energy management system for use in marine vessels and other variable demand propulsion applications monitors and draws energy from various energy sources dynamically to implement multiple operating modes and provide efficient system operation across a range of propulsive demands, altering the operation and output of various energy sources in response to propulsive load demands, hotel loads and auxiliary energy demands. The propulsion system incorporates at least two propulsive sources, including at least one main propulsive engine and at least one motor-generator unit arranged to drive a common output shaft, and the energy management system dynamically shifts operation of each of the two sources to satisfy propulsive demands. The main propulsive engine and the motor-generator unit are capable of driving the common output shaft both independently and simultaneously.

  • Publication number: 20040220798
Abstract: A voice-based identification system allows a user to gain access to a vehicle. The user through the use of a user interface transmits a signal based on the user's voice to an identification module residing in the vehicle. A controller analyzes the signal with an algorithm implemented in the memory of the controller to determine if the user is an authorized user.
