  • Patent number: 11919657
Abstract: A landing gear monitoring and alerting system includes a locking pin configured to be inserted into an aperture extending through a linkage of an extended landing gear assembly. When inserted into the aperture, the locking pin inhibits movement of the linkage to establish a locked state of the extended landing gear assembly. This system further includes a magnetic sensor and a communication module. The magnetic sensor is disposed proximate the aperture and is configured to sense a magnetic response indicative of the locking pin being disposed within the aperture. The magnetic sensor is configured to generate a sensor output indicative of the locking pin being disposed within the aperture. The communication module has a transmitter coupled to the magnetic sensor so as to receive the sensor output and is configured to responsively transmit a signal indicative of the locking pin being disposed within the aperture.

  • Publication number: 20220267024
Abstract: Examples provide a method and system for quantitatively measuring air turbulence. A turbulence measuring application on each user device in a plurality of user devices associated with a plurality of users at a plurality of different locations within an aircraft generates vibration data and positional data associated with turbulence detected at each user's location. The data is analyzed to eliminate noise due to user movements and other non-turbulence related events. An aircraft server aggregates the vibration data and the positional data generated by the user devices scattered throughout the aircraft. The aggregated data is analyzed to eliminate noise due to non-turbulence related events to create quantitative air turbulence data. The quantitative air turbulence data generated by one or more aircraft is used with weather and other related data to generate more accurate and precise turbulence predictions for aircraft.

  • Patent number: 8437906
Abstract: A method for creating a maintenance release (MR) record containing operational status information for a mobile platform. The method may involve electronically accessing a database to acquire operational items relating to operational worthiness of the mobile platform, displaying the selected operational items to the user; and performing a synchronization check of the database system. The synchronization check verifies that the selected operational items represent the most recently stored information in the database system.

  • Patent number: 8316225
Abstract: A system and method are provided for establishing a communication link between an on onboard computer system (OCS) of a mobile platform and a central computer system (CCS) located remotely from the mobile platform. A message containing data to be downloaded from the OCS to the CCS is sent from a first portion of an electronic log book function (ELB1) of the OCS to a second portion of a communications management function (CMF2) of the OCS. The message is configured into a transmittable data file and placed into an outgoing queue of the CMF2. The CMF2 automatically selects at least one desired communication channel from a plurality of available communication channels utilizing a configuration file of the CMF2. The CMF2 establishes a secure link between the OCS and the CCS utilizing the automatically selected communication channel and sends the transmittable data file to the CCS, via the secure established link over the automatically selected channel.

  • Patent number: 8170988
Abstract: A method for synchronizing information shared by a subsystem on-board a mobile platform and a subsystem remote from the mobile platform. The method may involve designating one of the subsystems as a first system having a first database, and designating one of the subsystems as a second system having a second database. The first subsystem may be used to transmit a synchronization request to the second subsystem, with the synchronization request including a synchronization point to be used as a reference for future synchronization operations between the subsystems. The second subsystem may be used to receive the synchronization request and to check the second database for any records that have been created or modified since a previously performed synchronization operation. Information may then be transmitted back to the first subsystem that includes information concerning the new or modified records.

  • Patent number: 7788002
Abstract: A system and method are provided for managing mobile platform fault data. The method includes automatically collecting raw fault data regarding at least one fault that occurs onboard the mobile platform utilizing a central maintenance computer (CMC) onboard the mobile platform. The raw fault data is automatically transmitted from the CMC to an onboard computer system (OCS) of the mobile platform and to a central computer system (CCS) located remotely from the mobile platform. The method additionally includes automatically generating at least one electronic mobile platform cabin (MPC) draft fault report from the raw data utilizing a first portion of an electronic logbook function (ELB1) of the OCS. Execution of the ELB1 additionally generates a MPC draft fault report notification message viewable on an OCS display and is automatically downloaded to the CCS.
