Abstract: A method includes: determining an actual speed value of a vehicle, determining a maximum speed value, and determining a critical speed value larger than the maximum speed value, and determining the actual driving condition of the vehicle, determining a target speed value of the vehicle that is smaller than the determined maximum speed value, and wherein if the driving condition is determined as the over speed driving condition, determining a speed braking signal value for actuating the friction braking unit depending on the determined target speed value, and providing the speed braking signal value to the brake system for actuating the friction braking unit.
