Publication number: 20240117235Abstract: A coating protects a dissolvable component of a downhole tool, so that the dissolvable component can be deployed to a desired downhole location, perform under high stress for fracturing operations, and be efficiently dissolved after the fracturing operations are completed. The present invention elevates known greases for this functionality usually performed by complex factory fabricated polymer and metal coatings. The coating includes an activation layer, a first grease layer, and a second grease layer. The first grease layer and the second grease layer have differential grease layer consistency ranges and thickness rages. The coating includes non-uniform layers of manually applied greases onsite to control degradation of the component substrate as effectively as factory coatings pre-fabricated on the components.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 11, 2022Publication date: April 11, 2024Inventors: Lei ZHAO, Jiaxiang REN, Tim DUNNE, Peng CHENG, Huailiang LIU

Patent number: 11100280Abstract: A method for consolidating DDT spreadsheets is provided. The spreadsheets may be for testing with a test executable program. Methods may store a plurality of DDT spreadsheets in a collective DDT folder. Methods may create a single collective spreadsheet. Methods may store the single collective spreadsheet in the collective DDT folder. Methods may identify a plurality of empty cells within each DDT spreadsheet. Methods may enter a filler entry into each cell determined to be empty. Methods may copy each sheet that includes at least one test executable into the single collective spreadsheet. Methods may process each test executable included in the single collective spreadsheet. Methods may place the results of each test executable in a column orthogonal to the test executable row. Methods may copy each test executable and the results of each test executable into the plurality of DDT spreadsheets from which the test executable were copied.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2019Date of Patent: August 24, 2021Assignee: Bank of America CorporationInventors: Tim Zhao, Akshay Patel, Indrani Mohanty

Patent number: 8665546Abstract: A disk drive is disclosed comprising a disk, a head for writing data to the disk, and control circuitry coupled to the head. The control circuitry is operable to determine a first set of fly height values and determine a threshold based on the first set of fly height values. The control circuitry determines a second set of fly height values, adjusts the threshold based on the second set of fly height values, and detects a head characteristic based on the adjusted threshold. The head characteristic is detected by detecting a head touchdown event and/or detecting contamination related to the head based on the adjusted threshold.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 2010Date of Patent: March 4, 2014Assignee: Western Digital Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Hongchao Tim Zhao, Jiangang Liang, Yilin Cai, Don Brunnett

Patent number: 7974039Abstract: A disk drive to reduce head instability during disk drive manufacturing is disclosed. The disk drive comprises: a disk; a dynamic flying height (DFH) read/write head; a flying height actuator to control the spacing between the DFH read/write head and the disk; and a controller. The controller controls operations in the disk drive including applying a sloped increasing power between a first voltage and a second voltage to move the DFH read/write head towards the disk.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 2009Date of Patent: July 5, 2011Assignee: Western Digital Technology, Inc.Inventors: Jianfeng Xu, Soo-Choon Kang, Kazuhiro Saito, Hongchao Tim Zhao

Patent number: 7630162Abstract: A method is disclosed for selecting a dynamic fly height (DFH) control setting for a head in a disk drive, the disk drive comprising a plurality of disk surfaces and plurality of respective heads. The method comprises servoing a first head over a first disk surface in response to servo data recorded on the first disk surface, adjusting a DFH control setting for a second head, and while servoing the first head over the first disk surface, detecting whether the second head has contacted a second disk surface.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 2008Date of Patent: December 8, 2009Assignee: Western Digital Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Hongchao Tim Zhao, Jiangang Liang
