Publication number: 20230418019Abstract: A head-mounted device may have a display with pixel arrays that display content for a user. A head-mounted support structure in the device supports the pixel arrays on the head of the user. A left positioner may be used to position a left lens assembly that includes a left lens and a first pixel array. A right positioner may be used to position a right lens assembly that includes a right lens and a second pixel array. Control circuitry may adjust the positions of the left and right lens assemblies using interpupillary distance information. Sensing circuitry such as force sensing circuitry may be used to ensure that the lens assemblies do not apply excessive force on a nose. Force sensors may be included between the lens assemblies and the nose, such as in, on, or adjacent to a nasal flap, or may be coupled to the lens assemblies.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 16, 2023Publication date: December 28, 2023Inventors: Timo Birnschein, Nicholas C Soldner, Matin Seadat Beheshti, Bijeta Chakraborty, Joryl P Calizo, Shannon Pomeroy, Amin Farzaneh

Patent number: 11685456Abstract: Vehicles may be composed of a relatively few number of “modules” that are assembled together during a final assembly process. An example vehicle may include a body module, a first drive module coupled to a first end of the body module, and a second drive module coupled to a second end of the body module. One or both of the drive modules may include a pair of wheels, a battery, an electric drive motor, and/or a heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system. One or both of the drive modules may also include a crash structure to absorb impacts. If a component of a drive module fails or is damaged, the drive module can be quickly and easily replaced with a new drive module, minimizing vehicle down time.Type: GrantFiled: August 8, 2022Date of Patent: June 27, 2023Assignee: Zoox, Inc.Inventors: Timo Birnschein, Andrew Piper, Adriano Di Pietro, Kyle Matthew Foley, Timothy David Kentley-Klay
