  • Patent number: 9312796
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for operating a brushless electric motor, the windings of which are controlled by an inverter using six switches, wherein the inverter comprises three outputs, which are associated with the windings of the electric motor, and wherein a respective power semiconductor switch is arranged between the output of the inverter and the windings, and wherein a detection unit for detecting defective switches, a unit for measuring the voltage at the outputs of the inverter, and a microcontroller for controlling switches are provided. The invention further relates to a device operating a brushless electric motor. In order not to damage the power semiconductor switches, according to the invention of the inverter is switched off by the microcontroller after a defective switch has been detected, such that no additional power is introduced in the windings (U, V, W) of the electric motor and the power semiconductor switches are opened in a predetermined motor angle position (?U, ?v, ?w).

  • Patent number: 8075067
Abstract: Disclosed is a brake system of the ‘brake-by-wire’ type for actuating a motor vehicle brake system having a brake booster which is operable in response to the driver's input by a brake pedal and to an electronic regulating and control unit. A device is provided to decouple a force-transmitting connection between the brake pedal and the brake booster in the ‘brake-by-wire’ operating mode.

  • Publication number: 20040075337
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods for controlling an electrohydraulic brake system which represent types of emergency braking operating modes being actuated when various malfunctions occur, such as a malfunction caused by a mechanical fault of one of the pressure control valves, of a pressure sensor used to determine the wheel brake pressures, a high-pressure accumulator serving a an auxiliary-pressure source or a pump cooperating with the high-pressure accumulator, a separating valve closing the connections between the wheel brakes and an emergency pressure generator or master brake cylinder as well as when a loss in pressure occurs in any of the wheel brakes associated with the front or the rear axle.
