  • Patent number: 6327374
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for automatic inspection of the surface 20 of a moving object, in which a region on the object's surface is illuminated from at least two different illumination directions 13-15. The object's illuminated surface region is imaged with a camera to provide image information for analysis. The light sources in the different illumination directions 13-15 are pulsed to illuminate the object's surface region at different times, the pulsing frequency being >1 kHz The object's illuminated surface region is imaged as lines with a line scan camera 21 in sync with the above pulsing.

  • Patent number: 5018867
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the visual inspection of at least partly specularly reflective surfaces, such as metal surfaces, which are in continuous motion, by means of a receiver apparatus (5) and an image-analysis apparatus (6). In order to eliminate from the image produced in the received apparatus (5) the uneven illumination caused by variations in the height and orientation of the surface (4) being inspected, the view angle (30) of the received apparatus is adjusted in such a manner that the length of the image of the source of light, formed by means of a perforated lens (3) in front of the source of light (1) is greater than the diameter of the input pupil of the lens of the received apparatus (5).

  • Patent number: 4651262
Abstract: When examing visually uneven surfaces the problem is the disappearing of the areas remaining in the shade from the picture. To the lighting device in accordance wiht the invention for illumination of and elimination of shades from uneven surface (1) belong a source of light (2), a mainly globular reflecting contrivance (3), the interior surface of which is equipped with reflecting material, and to which openings (4, 5) for the examining of the surface and holes (6) for conducting of the light into the reflecting contrivance are formed, as well as a reflector element (7) for reflecting of light through the opening (4) into the reflecting contrivance.
