  • Patent number: 8438754
Abstract: The object of the invention is an apparatus and a method for improving the detachment of paper (1) from the cylinder of a paper machine in a drying section implemented with a single wire transfer, which drying section comprises means for heating the paper on the drying cylinder (3) and for transporting it onwards on the wire (2) via a hitch roll (8) to the next drying cylinder such that the paper together with the wire in the section between the cylinders is sucked against the wire by means of low pressure. What is essential to the invention is that in order to improve the detachment of the paper (1) an apparatus is installed on the opposite side of the drying wire (2) at the detachment point (7), which apparatus comprises a nozzle (14), with which an air jet (11) is blown against the direction of travel (15) of the drying wire, and a carrying surface (9) such that the air jet (11) ejects secondary air (17) along with it causing an air flow (18) between the planar carrying surface (9) and the drying wire (2).

  • Patent number: 6136148
Abstract: A method and apparatus for cleaning a drying fabric of a paper machine. In the method a cleaning liquid is introduced into a gap (3) defined by the roll or cylinder (2) of a paper machine and a fabric (1) being fed onto the roll or cylinder. The cleaning liquid is pressed between the roll or cylinder (2) and the fabric (1) and is carried along with the fabric and is spread along the whole width of the fabric. The apparatus includes means for introducing and spreading the cleaning liquid into the gap between the roll and cylinder (2) and the drying fabric and, optionally, includes means (6) for collecting the cleaning liquid.

  • Patent number: 5475934
Abstract: The multi-cylinder dryer of a papermachine includes a first tier of cylinders, where the web supported by a first dryer wire travels on the cylinders of the first tier of cylinders, as well as a second tier of cylinders, where the web supported by a second dryer wire travels on the cylinders of the second tier of cylinders. The first dryer wire travels from a cylinder of the first tier of cylinders to a first guide roll and delivers the web lying on its side facing the cylinder of the first tier onto the second dryer wire and, after having wound onto a second wire guide roll, again takes up, on its surface facing the following cylinder of the first tier, the web from the second dryer wire traveling through the second tier of cylinders.

  • Patent number: 5451265
Abstract: A method for cleaning one or more orifice slots (2, 3) of a blow box (1) or similar object particularly in the press or dryer section of a paper machine or similar equipment. The orifice slot (2, 3) is subjected to treatment from inside the blow box by means of one or more mechanical cleaning elements (4) and/or a cleaning jet (8, 9, 23). The invention also concerns an apparatus suited for implementing said method.

  • Patent number: 5438765
Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus for eliminating the flutter of a paper web in the dryer section of a papermaking machine between two single felt configurations in which the web is transferred from a dryer fabric of a first configuration onto a dryer fabric of a second configuration along a common run of the fabrics, the transfer being effected from one fabric to the other by means of a vacuum transfer roll, with the second configuration dryer fabric being brought into contact with the web and around which the fabric is winding, whereby on the side of the first configuration dryer fabric upstream of a contact point between the web carried thereon and the second configuration dryer fabric winding around the vacuum transfer roll there is provided a vacuum zone defined by the first configuration dryer fabric for retaining the web in contact with the first configuration dryer fabric.

  • Patent number: 5379526
Abstract: An apparatus in the dryer section of a papermaking machine for preventing the flutter of a paper web comprises an air blow box located between adjacent cylinders within a loop of a support fabric (F) formed by a guide roll. The blow box includes a blow chamber, into whose wall opens a nozzle for providing an ejector assembly together with an opposite wall included in the box. The walls build therebetween a flow path direct towards an uncovered section of support fabric (F). An air current discharging from nozzle is delivered through the flow path and into a space confined by the uncovered section of support fabric (F) and thereby through the support fabric. The air current creates a vacuum in a space defined between the ejector assembly and a section of support fabric (F) carrying the web (W).

  • Patent number: 4892622
Abstract: A method of and arrangement for resisting formation of undulations in a fiber/water mixture supplied onto a forming wire at an open planar wire section of a paper-making machine include establishing over the wire an air curtain extending over the full breadth thereof, in the region of which the air mass upon the wire is set in motion. The direction of movement of the air mass is the same as the traveling direction of the wire, and the velocity of the air substantially equals the speed of the wire. The air curtain commences on the planar wire section, in the machine direction, only at a given distance from a lip slice of a headbox of the machine, and the air curtain extends along the traveling direction of the web over the planar wire section over a given distance.
