  • Publication number: 20230379717
Abstract: There is provided mechanisms for handling credentials of an IoT SAFE applet. A method is performed by a communication device. The communication device stores the IoT SAFE applet in a first security domain of a subscription module in the communication device. The first security domain is free from any subscription profile and is different from any security domain of the subscription module for storing subscription profiles. The IoT SAFE applet is independent from any MNO. The communication device is without credentials for the IoT SAFE applet for establishing secure communication for the communication device with a network node. The method comprises obtaining credentials for the IoT SAFE applet from the network node. The method comprises storing the credentials in the first security domain of the subscription module. The credentials are, after successful storage, accessible only from within the first security domain.

  • Patent number: 9263063
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for disabling a discontinuous transmission node DTX of a speech encoder if a music signal is detected in a call input signal. The music signal is detected by determining an activity factor corresponding to the relation of sound signal periods relative to scheme signal periods. If the activity factor is higher than a specified activity factor, the DTX is disabled.

  • Publication number: 20100014456
Abstract: A method and apparatus in a gateway node of a telecommunications network for receiving frames from a source node such as a Radio Network Controller (RNC) and forwarding the frames with correct sequencing and timing to a destination node in an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network. Upon determining that a potential or actual discontinuity in frame numbering has occurred, the apparatus sends a discontinuity indication toward the destination node. The indication may be included in the first frame subsequent to the discontinuity. The destination node is thus made aware that the frame numbering may not be reliable.

  • Publication number: 20080270614
Abstract: A method for the set-up of a bearer in a communication system from a first node which is adapted to a first bearer protocol to a second node which is adapted to a second bearer protocol is described. The set-up of a bearer is initiated by a message to the first node and an identification of the second node is provided to the first node. The first node determines whether the second node is adapted to the first bearer protocol and sets up the bearer according to the first bearer protocol if the second node is adapted to the first bearer protocol. Else, the first node sets up a bearer according to the first bearer protocol to a conversion node (BIGW) and sends an identification of the second node to the conversion node (BIGW) and the conversion node (BIGW) sets up a bearer according to the second bearer protocol to the second node and introduces a conversion unit between the first bearer protocol and the second bearer protocol. Nodes and program units adapted to the method are also described.

  • Patent number: 7369525
Abstract: A method in a communication network having separate call control and bearer control for interfacing the network with a further network that utilizes monolithic signaling. The method increases the flexibility of an existing payload connection, especially in the case of a malfunction. Enhancements to existing signaling protocols are utilized to transfer further information. Information elements and methods for interpreting the transferred information are stored in the senders and receivers of the information, enabling more information to be transferred. A combination of a payload transmission device and a control node may be identified separately or as a single device. Additionally, a connection assignment may be identified as a further assignment, enabling the change of a current assignment for a radio access controller.

  • Patent number: 7295845
Abstract: In a method for the set-up of a connection in a communication network, the set-up is initiated with an initial message (12) from an originating control node (ON) to a terminating control node (TN) of the connection and the establishment of a bearer for the connection is initiated according to a reply to the initial message (12). A control timer (CT) is started according to the initial message (12) and an expiry of the control timer (CT) before an indication of the bearer establishment triggers a release for the connection. In the method, after receiving the initial message (12) at the terminating control node (TN), a paging (13) a user equipment (UE?) for the connection and starting a first timer (FT) according to the paging (13) initiation is performed, the expiry value of the first timer (FT) being set lower than the expiry value of the control timer (CT).

  • Patent number: 6952433
Abstract: A system and method that enables a more flexible architecture in communication networks with separated call control and bearer control. The invention enables full support of the advantages of a communication network with separated call control and bearer control when interfacing with a further network with monolithic signalling. The invention also increases the flexibility of an existing payload connection, especially in the case of a malfunction. The invention uses the existing signalling protocols to transfer further information. Basically, information elements and methods to interpret the transferred information are stored in the receivers and senders of the information. This enables the receivers and senders of information to transmit more information than originally planned when the protocols where designed. So it is possible to identify a combination of a payload transmission device and a control node instead of a single device only.

  • Patent number: 6345182
Abstract: A method of charging at a mobile switching centre, MSC (5) of a mobile telecommunications network (2) in respect of a call initiated by a mobile terminal (1) registered with the network (2) and terminating outside of the network. At the MSC (5) the call is classified, according to the associated A-number and/or the B-number, as corresponding either to a call for which the MSC (5) is to be the charge determination point or to a call for which the charge determination point is located outside of the mobile telecommunications network (2). In the event that the call belongs to the latter class, the MSC (5) receives tariff information from the external charge determination point (7,9) and calculates charge information on the basis of the received tariff information.
