  • Patent number: 9282573
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system for performing a random access operation between a mobile station and a network element such as a base transceiver station (10), wherein allowed access slots for random access channels are defined by the network and are signaled to the mobile station (20). The definition of the allowed access slots is performed on the basis of a parameter set by the base transceiver station (10) and transmitted to the mobile station (20) which determines the allowed access slots based on the parameter. Thus, the number of allowed access slots can be defined by the network and can be changed dynamically based on the random access messaging load and the hardware requirements.

  • Publication number: 20080181257
Abstract: A method and a communication bus are provided having nodes. Each of the nodes includes a transmitting element to transmit data to another node on the bus, and a receiving element to receive information from another node on the bus. A communication channel is between the transmitting and receiving elements within each node, a transmitter state machine logic controls the synchronisation of the transmitting element, and a receiving state machine logic to control the synchronisation of the receiving element. A storage area maintains the status of synchronisation of the bus. Communication data is synchronised via a bus connecting first and second nodes. A plurality of encoded bytes, each encoded byte represented as a 10 bit code, is transmitted from the first node. The second node receives and decodes the bytes, where any decoding errors in a byte are detected. A synchronised status is indicated.

  • Patent number: 7319713
Abstract: The method comprises setting a threshold value, dividing the combined signal into blocks, comparing the values of each block with the set threshold value and if the threshold value is exceeded, decorrelating the block where the threshold value was exceeded and a pre-determined number of channelization codes, which have a pre-determined spreading factor. The decorrelation result is normalized to determine first weighting coefficients. The method also comprises comparing each combination of a first weighting coefficient and a related channelization code with the set objectives and determining second weighting coefficients for the downlink transmissions selected as a result of the comparison. The examined block is re-formed using combinations of the channelization codes and the weighting coefficients that were determined.

  • Patent number: 7254401
Abstract: A method and system for determining a location of a user equipment using RTT measurements from a connected node B and RTT measurement of other node Bs which are not connected to the user equipment. The radio network controller of a network measures RTT of a connected node Bs and then measures RTT of non connected node Bs. Based on the RTT measurement, the distances of the user equipment from each node B is determined. Circles having radii equal to the distances of the user equipment from the nodes are used to determine the user equipment location.

  • Patent number: 7133421
Abstract: A method and an equipment implementing the method that allow a logical channel, to which a received burst relates, to be identified with certainty also in demanding operational circumstances. A logical channel relating to a time slot is identified by applying channel decoding. The identification can be a primary identification or a confirming identification taking place after a primary identifier the time slot comprises, preferably a bit map, has been interpreted. If identification based on channel decoding contradicts identification based on the bit map, a receiver can be arranged to indicate logical channel information on the basis of the channel decoding, for instance by changing the bit map, when selected criteria are met, to a bit map conforming to the logical channel identified on the basis of the channel decoding.

  • Patent number: 7028176
Abstract: The invention relates to a base station comprising distributed processor architecture and a method of booting distributed processor architecture of a base station. The distributed processor architecture of the base station comprises a main unit and at least one sub-unit connected to it via the Ethernet. In the method, the main unit is booted, which main unit releases the sub-unit from reset. The control logic of the sub-unit reads the initialization parameters of the MAC controller stored in the read-only memory of the sub-unit. The MAC controller is initialized by using the read initialization parameters, after which boot software is loaded to the sub-unit via the Ethernet. Finally, the sub-unit is booted with the loaded boot software.
