  • Patent number: 7918217
Abstract: Exhaust gas check valve with a movable valve element held by a plurality of return springs, an exhaust gas through-opening closable by the valve element, and a stop element delimiting the stroke of the valve element; in order to improve the service life of the check valve, damping means are provided in the check valve for bringing about a comparatively gentle breaking of the valve element when at the end of its stroke it approaches that position in which the check valve is fully open, the damping means comprising spring elements holding the stop element, and/or a gas space which, when the check valve is open, is defined and at least almost closed by the valve element and the stop element.

  • Patent number: 7771641
Abstract: A lid component part of an internal combustion engine with integrated elastic seal, such as, for example, is provided to a cylinder head gasket or oil pan and a process for its manufacture. The component part exhibits a circumferential flange area for the arranging of the integrated seal. The component part is based on a plastic-material, while the seal essentially comprises an organic elastomer material. The component part and the seal are chemically bonded with one another. The seal is applied by injection molding onto the component part.

  • Publication number: 20100166965
Abstract: The seal comprises a two-dimensional support, to which on one-side or both-sides an elastomer is applied by means of an injection molding process. The elastomer of the seal consists of at least one elastomer material. For the manufacture, a support is provided which is continuously fed to a pick apparatus, which cyclically applies on one or both sides an organic elastomer material as seal to the support. Subsequently, the seal is punched free.

  • Patent number: 7574990
Abstract: A method for reducing fuel permeation through gasketed joints in an internal combustion engine (10) includes surface treating the gaskets in a halogenated medium before placing them into service. A low-cost elastomer such as acrylic, EPDM or HNBR, can be used for the gasket body. The halogenated medium may comprise either a liquid bath or a gaseous bath, into which the gasket is immersed. The halogenated medium bath is excited by heating to accelerate the halogenation process. A gasket treated according to this invention possesses a chemically altered exterior surface which substantially enhances its fuel permeability resistance at relatively low cost.

  • Patent number: 7441525
Abstract: A cover for a cylinder head of an internal combustion engine having a connecting element for attachment the cylinder head and a sealing element arranged between the cylinder head cover and the cylinder head. The connecting element is associated with a connecting area, and the sealing element is associated with a sealing area. The connecting area and the sealing area are constructed independently of each other and are spatially separated from each other, and the force vectors of the connecting force transmitted by the connecting element and the sealing force transmitted by the sealing element form an angle with each other.
