  • Publication number: 20160298752
Abstract: A drive system for a vehicle includes a chain ring and a drive chain. The chain ring has a plurality of teeth serially arranged and joined to one another. A first subset of teeth has a first outer face that applies a lateral pressure to a link of a drive chain in a first direction. A second subset of teeth has a second outer face that applies a lateral pressure to another link of a drive chain in a second direction. The teeth all have substantially the same width. The top surfaces of the teeth are offset from the centerline of the drive chain. The centerlines of the top surfaces of the teeth are arranged asymmetrically on one side of the centerline of the drive chain.

  • Publication number: 20060162838
Abstract: A pneumatic tire 10 has a carcass ply 12 or plies 12, 14 with a locked tie-in construction and a wrap-around toeguard 18. Each wrap-around toeguard 18 is a non cord reinforced elastomeric unitary strip wound 360.degree. in a singular annular bead. The wrap-around toeguard cord reinforced unitary strip 18 can be formed of a single elastomeric composition having a shore hardness of greater than 40. Alternatively the wrap-around toeguard may additionally include an apex portion 29 and a chafer portion 27 along with the toeguard portion 28, each portion 27, 29 being co-extruded or otherwise hot formed and shaped with the toeguard portion 28 to form the unitary strip 18 and can have distinct elastomeric composition relative to the toeguard portion 28.

  • Publication number: 20060058139
Abstract: A bicycle sprocket guard that includes an inner ring and an outer ring. The guard is a pair of rings mounted together and attached to the sprocket, preferably by sandwiching the crank plate between the sprocket and the guard rings. The outer ring has low elongation, such as with a polycarbonate, to avoid interfering with the chain upon impact with hard objects. The inner ring is strong to resist deformation and absorb shock impacts from the outer ring. The inner ring will not crack under the concentrated forces at the fasteners, nor will the outer ring deform to interfere with the chain when impacting hard surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20060005903
Abstract: A non-pneumatic wheel has a mounting means, a tread support, and a tread. The tread is an annular article defined by opposing lateral edges and a ground contacting surface that forms the ground contacting means for the non-pneumatic wheel system. The internal construction of the tread includes a belt package, a primary reinforcement layer and a pair of hoop reinforcements in the lateral edges. The hoop reinforcements are located radially inward and axially outward of the ground contacting surface.

  • Patent number: 6581919
Abstract: A seat post for a cycle has inner and outer members that are slidably mounted together forming a variable volume chamber. The variable volume chamber communicates with a fixed volume chamber in the inner member through orifices and a check valve. Slots are formed in the inner member, and a pin extends from the outer member through the slots. A cushion at one end of the slots prevents hard top-out.

  • Publication number: 20020159119
Abstract: An exemplary embodiment of the invention is an optical communications network transmitting signals on multiple wavelengths. The network includes a first dispersion compensating fiber providing dispersion compensation and dispersion slope compensation. The first dispersion compensating fiber has a first non-zero dispersion coefficient and a first non-zero dispersion slope coefficient. The network also includes a second dispersion compensating fiber in optical communication with the first dispersion compensating fiber. The second dispersion compensating fiber has a second non-zero dispersion coefficient and a second non-zero dispersion slope coefficient. The lengths of first dispersion compensating fiber and second dispersion compensating fiber are selected to compensate dispersion and compensate dispersion slope in a transmission path in optical communication with the first dispersion compensating fiber and the second dispersion compensating fiber.
