  • Publication number: 20130099790
Abstract: A portable locator for locating an obscured marker. The locator includes a portable locator housing, a first antenna disposed within the housing, a second antenna disposed orthogonally to the antenna within the housing; and a processor. The processor is configured to interact with each of the first and second antennas, such that each of the first and second antennas is configured to transmit and receive signals. The locator may include more than two antennas, and may include multiple sets of antennas.

  • Patent number: 7537475
Abstract: An electrical connector having a cup-like first dielectric housing with electrical contacts retained by a base portion of the housing is disclosed. The electrical contacts are disposed in a region spaced from a sidewall portion. An adhesive filled capsule is disposed in the region. A second dielectric housing is configured for insertion into the cup-like first dielectric housing and having second electrical contacts retained by the second housing configured for mating with the first electrical contacts. The second dielectric housing has a sidewall with a frontal portion disposed in the region for engaging and rupturing the capsule when the second dielectric housing is inserted within the first dielectric housing to release adhesive from the adhesive filled capsule into the cup-like, first dielectric housing.

  • Patent number: 6246328
Abstract: An extended range coil for an inductance-capacitance tuned circuit and a method for its manufacture. The extended range coil comprises a wire-wound planar spiral portion, having a circumference, and a wire-wound wall portion joined to the wire-wound planar spiral portion and extending outward from the circumference thereof. An extended range coil according to the present invention may use a continuous length of wire for winding the wire-wound planar spiral portion and the wire-wound wall portion.

  • Patent number: 5430379
Abstract: An adapter for a conventional conductor locator allows the locator to additionally detect the presence of passive, electronic markers. The adapter includes an electronic marker locator and a wireless interface housed in a common body which may be releasably attached to the conductor locator. The electronic marker locator, which may comprise conventional circuitry, outputs a marker detection signal to the wireless interface, which conditions the signal so that it is compatible with the input sensor of the conductor locator. The wireless interface includes an output antenna which is positioned adjacent the input sensor of the conductor locator when the adapter is attached thereto. If the conductor locator is of the type which may receive test signals at different operating frequencies, then the wireless interface also includes a modulator to selectively convert the marker detection signal to one of these operating frequencies.
