  • Patent number: 9802097
Abstract: A swing training system includes a base unit having a grapple that is movable between open and closed positions. A free end of an elongated swing device, such as a golf club or a hockey stick, is secured within the grapple. The swing device is manipulated to exert a force on the grapple and a load cell, away from the base unit, for a predetermined value, such as force and/or time. Relative movement between the grapple and the base is substantially limited while the swing device is manipulated. Once the predetermined value is attained, the grapple releases the free end of the swing device.

  • Patent number: 9789907
Abstract: A side impact protective structure is provided for a vehicle floor pan. Right and left rear rails are attached, respectively, to right and left lateral sides of the floor pan. A kick-up cross member extends transversely between the right and left rocker assemblies. A right reinforcement is welded to the floor pan, the right rear rail, and the kick-up cross member. A left reinforcement is welded to the left rear rail, to the floor pan and the kick-up cross member. An assembly method includes the steps of selecting a thin mild steel floor pan between a thicker HSLA steel structural member and a thicker corner reinforcement and welding the components together with three thickness welds.

  • Publication number: 20170291177
Abstract: A waste processing machine for reducing material and having a feed assist system. A cutting assembly on a frame reduces material. A feed system on the frame directs material toward the cutting assembly. A winch assembly includes a line with a line end for securing material, and a driver on the frame to urge the line end toward the driver. A keeper fixed to the frame secures the line end. A sensor detects utilization between: a docked configuration with the line tensioned against between the driver and the keeper; and an undocked configuration with the line loosened. A control unit allows operation of the feed system in the docked configuration, and interrupts the feed system in the undocked configuration. A feed mechanism actuation bypasses the interrupted operation to advance material for a bypass period, and a limit mechanism overrides operation of the feed mechanism for a subsequent limit period.

  • Publication number: 20170291176
Abstract: A waste processing machine for reducing material and having a docking safety system. A cutting assembly on a frame reduces material. A feed system on the frame directs material toward the cutting assembly. A winch assembly includes a line with a line end for securing material, and a driver on the frame to urge the line end toward the driver. A keeper fixed to the frame secures the line end to the frame. A docking subassembly, spaced from the keeper, is movable between: a docked position with the line tensioned against the subassembly between the driver and the line end secured to the keeper; and an undocked position with the line loosened against the subassembly. A control unit allows operation of the feed system when the subassembly is in the docked position, and at least partially limits operation of the feed system when the subassembly is in the undocked position.

  • Publication number: 20170259446
Abstract: An example system includes a cutting tool and a device configured to remotely control the cutting tool. The device is configured to establish a wireless communication with the cutting tool, and the cutting tool is configured to send a first signal to the device indicating that the cutting tool is enabled to be operated remotely responsive to the cutting tool receiving information indicating that a trigger is locked in an “on” state and a remote switch is in a first position. The device is configured to send a second signal to the cutting tool indicating a request to cause the cutting tool to perform a cutting operation responsive to receiving information indicative of actuation of at least one button of a user interface of the device.

  • Patent number: 9762150
Abstract: A self-powered sensor system and sensing method includes a power source generating power which is a function of a first parameter such as vibration. A charge management circuit is responsive to the power output by the power source and is configured to provide, every charge cycle, a supply signal to a controller which activates it to control a transmitter to transmit data at a transmission rate which is a function of the charge cycle. The data and the transmission rate are processed and used to identify a variation in the first parameter by a variation in the transmission rate beyond a predetermined threshold.

  • Publication number: 20170231755
Abstract: A system includes a medical device for implanting in a valve of a subject, the implantable medical device having a self-expanding frame; and a holder configured to retain the frame of the implantable medical device in a constricted configuration and to control expansion of the frame. The holder has a controllably constrictable and expandable loop, wherein the loop is disposed about at least a portion of the self-expanding frame such that constriction or expansion of the first loop controls constriction or expansion of the frame.

  • Patent number: 9706321
Abstract: A method and apparatus for executing a method for modifying an output parameter of an electronic device. The method and apparatus emits a first sound. The method and apparatus are further configured to receive a second sound at the electronic device, the second sound based at least in part on the first sound. The processor of the electronic device compares at least one characteristic of the first sound to at least one corresponding characteristic of the second sound. The processor further receives output data from at least one sensor and modifies an output parameter of the electronic device in response to the comparison of the first sound and the second sound and the output data from the at least one sensor.

  • Patent number: 9637081
Abstract: A curtain airbag for a motor vehicle includes an inflatable cushion and a protective sheet having an attachment edge attached to the airbag and a free-length extending from the attachment edge. The cushion formed into a folded condition from which it is deployable in a deployment direction, and the free-length of the sheet is positioned adjacent to the deployment direction of the cushion. The airbag is installed in the vehicle to deploy adjacent to a daylight opening of the vehicle. Deployment of the cushion during inflation causes the protective sheet to be drawn along with the cushion in the deployment direction so that the sheet overlays the outboard-facing side of the cushion (between the cushion and the daylight opening) and thereby provides a degree of protection against damage to the cushion that may be caused by, for example, broken window glass.
