  • Publication number: 20190060580
Abstract: A needle shield puller has a deformable tubular body including a proximal end having a proximal opening and a distal end. An opening extends from the proximal opening toward the distal end. The opening is shaped to accommodate a portion of a needle shield. The body has initial and tension states and the opening diameter is greater in the initial state. A cinch is secured to the body at the proximal opening to secure the needle shield puller to the needle shield. The cinch biases the cinch diameter to a relaxed cinch diameter less than the needle shield diameter. A handle at a distal end of the body allows a user to place the body in the tension state. An installation aid comprises an arm releasably engageable with the cinch and the proximal opening to expand the cinch diameter toward a maximum cinch diameter greater than the needle shield diameter.

  • Publication number: 20190059876
Abstract: Devices and methods for securing a tissue anchor in tissue of a patient, in particular to ensure proper deployment of a cardiac tissue anchor by regulating the force or pressure of a deployment tool against the tissue. One way to ensure proper deployment force is to visualize the distal end of the tissue anchoring catheter from outside the body using a display for an imaging sensor, where the distal end of the catheter changes configuration when it is pressed against the tissue. Another method involves automatically regulating the pressure applied to the tissue prior to deployment of the tissue anchor, which may also be used in conjunction with visualization. Several safety locks to prevent deployment of the tissue anchor prior to establishment of the proper pressure are disclosed, which again may be used with visualization and/or an automated pressure regulator.

  • Patent number: 10203990
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for utilizing cross-account access to tasks on an on-demand code execution environment or other distributed code execution environment to implement an application programming interface (API) on a network-accessible service. An on-demand code execution environment can utilize pre-initialized virtual machine instances to enable execution of user-specified code in a rapid manner, without delays typically caused by initialization of the virtual machine instances. While users may generally execute their own code, the present application enables code of a first user to be executed by a second user, while maintaining the privacy and security of the code and associated accounts. Further, the present application enables a set of tasks to be grouped together as an API, enabling any user to create an API for a service, while the on-demand code execution environment manages execution of the tasks and allocation of underlying computing resources.

  • Publication number: 20190025436
Abstract: An apparatus and method of delivering an alert from an aircraft to a search and rescue system. An alert from an aircraft is received via a communications satellite. The alert comprises identification information identifying the aircraft and position information identifying the position of the aircraft. In response to receiving the alert, an emulated distress radio beacon signal is generated. The emulated distress radio beacon signal comprises the identification information and the position information in a standard format of a signal generated by a distress radio beacon. The emulated distress radio beacon signal is broadcast from a location other than the aircraft as an emulated distress radio beacon transmission that is configured to be received and processed by the search and rescue system.

  • Publication number: 20190028554
Abstract: Technologies are disclosed for local and distributed function based dynamic traffic management for network services. A service host executes a network service and provides a service framework that includes one or more handlers. When a request is received for the service, one of the handlers assigns a classification to the request. The handler then provides the classification to a dynamic function based traffic controller. The controller determines whether the network service is to process the request based on the classification of the request, metrics associated with the network service, and a local traffic management policy. If the controller determines that the network service is not to process the request, the request is rejected. Otherwise, the request is passed to the network service for processing. Metrics can also be provided from the service host to a distributed performance monitoring system for use in managing network traffic at a fleet level.

  • Patent number: 10162672
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for transforming a data set within a data source into a series of task calls to an on-demand code execution environment or other distributed code execution environment. Such environments utilize pre-initialized virtual machine instances to enable execution of user-specified code in a rapid manner, without delays typically caused by initialization of the virtual machine instances, and are often used to process data in near-real time, as it is created. However, limitations in computing resources may inhibit a user from utilizing an on-demand code execution environment to simultaneously process a large, existing data set. The present application provides a task generation system that can iteratively retrieve data items from an existing data set and generate corresponding task calls to the on-demand computing environment, while ensuring that at least one task call for each data item within the existing data set is made.

  • Patent number: 10162688
Abstract: A service manages a plurality of virtual machine instances for low latency execution of user codes. The service can provide the capability to execute user code in response to events triggered on an auxillary service to provide implicit and automatic rate matching and scaling between events being triggered on the auxiliary service and the corresponding execution of user code on various virtual machine instances. An auxiliary service may be configured as an event triggering service to detect events and generate event messages for execution of the user codes. The service can request, receive, or poll for event messages directly from the auxiliary service or via an intermediary message service. Event messages can be rapidly converted to requests to execute user code on the service. The time from processing the event message to initiating a request to begin code execution is less than a predetermined duration, for example, 100 ms.

  • Patent number: 10145077
Abstract: A coupler interconnects adjacent sections of soil nails to extend the lengths of the nails. The coupler includes projections extending from the exterior surface of the coupler. The projections serve multiple purposes. One purpose is to center the soil nail within a drilled hole. Another purpose is to provide mixing for amounts of drilled material to remain within the hole, and/or evacuation of drilled material to be removed from the hole. Another purpose is to create a drilled hole with varying diameters in response to different geological layers encountered during drilling. The coupler may include a plurality of ports or openings formed in the body of the coupler enabling injected material such as grout to be further mixed by the rotating action of the coupler during use. The invention further includes a soil nail assembly and a method for installing a soil nail assembly including couplers with projections.

  • Patent number: 10140137
Abstract: A service manages a plurality of virtual machine instances for low latency execution of user codes. The plurality of virtual machine instances can be configured based on a predetermined set of configurations. One or more containers may be created within the virtual machine instances. In response to a request to execute user code, the service identifies a pre-configured virtual machine instance suitable for executing the user code. The service can allocate the identified virtual machine instance to the user, create a new container within an instance already allocated to the user, or re-use a container already created for execution of the user code. When the user code has not been activated for a time-out period, the service can invalidate allocation of the virtual machine instance destroy the container. The time from receiving the request to beginning code execution is less than a predetermined duration, for example, 100 ms.
