  • Patent number: 9749050
Abstract: A system for providing a reduced common public radio interface (CPRI) framelet link includes one or more cellular towers, each cellular tower including one or more cellular antennas and coupled to a first short CPRI fiber link. An access subsystem is coupled to a baseband pool. The access subsystem is coupled to the first short CPRI fiber link via a first framelet block, and the first framelet block facilitates interfacing the first short CPRI fiber link to the access subsystem.

  • Patent number: 9215297
Abstract: Aspects of efficient signal compression format schemes are described. In various embodiments, samples are grouped into one or more blocks. One or more scaling factors are determined for the samples in the one or more blocks. In some cases, a block scaling factor is determined for each block. Further, in some embodiments, if a unique scaling factor exists among samples in a block, the position of the sample is identified. In turn, sign extension bits are scaled from the one or more blocks, and samples in the one or more blocks are quantized. In one embodiment, based on a number of sign extension bits scaled from the block and whether the unique scaling factor exists, a scaling code word is encoded for the block. In other embodiments, implicity, adaptive scaling, and/or adaptive quantization, for example, are used to increase the performance of the compression schemes.

  • Publication number: 20140146918
Abstract: A transmitter module of the present disclosure can detect for a presence of an abnormal signal condition, such as a frequency transient within a signal of the transmitter module which can damage the transmitter module, a signal within the transmitter module being at a sufficient power level which can damage the transmitter module, and/or a signal within the transmitter module being at a power level for a sufficient duration which can damage the transmitter module to provide some examples. Once the abnormal signal condition has been detected by the transmitter module, the transmitter module can mitigate effects of the abnormal signal condition to prevent damage within the transmitter module. The transmitter module can adjust an operating characteristic of a module within the transmitter module and/or a signal characteristic of a signal within the transmitter module to mitigate the effects of the abnormal signal condition.

  • Patent number: 6611537
Abstract: A network adapter for a synchronous logical ring network operates on existing physical twisted-pair telephone topologies. Information propagates around the logical ring, reaching every device on each revolution around the network. Network devices are full-duplex, transmitting and receiving information on every clock cycle. Network devices arbitrate to be elected the network clock device. By synchronizing all network devices to a single reference clock, and providing fixed frames of information propagating around the network at consistent time intervals, the logical ring network ensures that information propagates from one device to another at consistent time intervals. The fixed-length frames are divided into two independent streams: a data stream for the distribution of real-time continuous digital media streams; and a system command stream for the distribution of system commands.
