  • Publication number: 20170065814
Abstract: A method for treating intractable pain via electrical stimulation of the spinal cord. Remote, non-contact stimulation of a selected region of spinal cord is achieved by placement of a transceiver patch directly on the surface of that region of spinal cord, with said patch optionally being inductively coupled to a transmitter patch of similar size on either the outer or inner wall of the dura surrounding that region of the spinal cord. By inductively exchanging electrical power and signals between said transmitter and transceiver patches, and by carrying out the necessary electronic and stimulus signal distribution functions on the transceiver patch, the targeted dorsal column axons can be stimulated without the unintended stray stimulation of nearby dorsal rootlets. Novel configurations of a pliable surface-sheath and clamp or dentate ligament attachment features which realize undamaging attachment of the patch to the spinal cord are described.

  • Patent number: 7297186
Abstract: A flexible bag for receiving flowable material is suspended, as from a gantry, and is tethered transversely and yet has substantially free movement along three sides for complete filling. The length of the tethers may be selected to prevent complete collapse of the bag when empty, and tubular perforated members having an “H” configuration within the bag may be provided for this purpose. Auxiliary structures provide for cooling of materials provided to the bag, their diffusion on inlet to the bag, their recirculation in the bag, and their removal from the bag. Accessories for use with wet gas provide for separation of inlet liquid and drainage of condensate within the bag.

  • Publication number: 20060173959
Abstract: A network-based messaging system comprises multiple agents to communicate messages between multiple users in real time using, for example, an XML document synchronization model. Each agent has properties defined in XML and can subscribe to properties of other agents. Each agent can notify other agents which subscribe to it of changes to its properties. The agents communicate using an XML or alternative extensible data interchange protocol. The agents include device agents to represent each of multiple user devices, which may include computers on a wireline network and mobile devices on a wireless network. The agents also include persona agents to represent each user. The persona agents collect information about the properties of other agents and publish the information to other, subscribing agents. Each persona agent comprises properties to maintain state information for each device used by the corresponding user. Most of the agents reside in a centralized agent system.
