  • Patent number: 5396522
Abstract: A radio receiver (100) for receiving a radio frequency signal includes a receiver (110) for generating from the received signal a data signal having alternating first and second edges and a clock (135) for generating a clock signal having a clock period. Adjustment circuitry (400, 145) adjusts the clock period only on the first edges of the data signal when it is determined that adjustments of the clock period on the second edges would contradict adjustments of the clock period on the first edges. Conversely, the adjustment circuitry (400, 145) adjusts the clock period on both the first and the second edges of the data signal when it is determined that the adjustments of the clock period on the second edges would not contradict the adjustments of the clock period on the first edges.

  • Patent number: 5376975
Abstract: A selective call receiver receives a selective call signal (400) comprising a preamble signal (410). The selective call receiver comprises receiver circuitry (102) for receiving and demodulating the selective call signal (400). A preamble detector (105) is coupled to the receiver circuitry (102) for detecting the preamble signal (410), and a battery saver circuit (126) selectively activates and deactivates the receiver circuitry (102) in response to a signal from a processor (114). The processor (114) provides the signal to the battery saver circuit (126) to deactivate and activate the receiver circuitry (102) during reception of the preamble signal (410) in response to and subsequent to the preamble detector (105) detecting a portion of the preamble signal (410).

  • Patent number: 5140702
Abstract: A receiver capable of receiving a plurality of signals, wherein more of the signals are received at a peak time than at an off peak time, comprises the method of a first step for determining if the signals are being received by searching in a first search mode and a second step for determining if the signals are not being received by searching in a second search mode. Selection circuitry activates the first step during the peak time and activates the second step during the off peak time. The first and second search modes comprise searching for the signal and searching for noise, respectively.
