    Abstract: A multi-zone filtration device for a down-flow catalytic hydroprocessing reactor is disclosed. The filtration device may be used in the petroleum and chemical processing industries in catalytic reactions of hydrocarbonaceous feedstocks in the presence of hydrogen, at an elevated temperature and pressure, to remove contaminants from mixed gas and liquid feedstreams to reactor catalyst beds. The filtration device may be provided as a horizontal installation at the top of a reactor, whereby feedstream liquid is passed through filtration media zones in a radial flow direction. In one zone, the flow is radially outward from the center of a zone of the filtration device to the wall of the reactor. In another zone, the flow is radially inward from the wall of the reactor to the center of a zone of the filtration device. The liquid flows to the reactor catalyst bed after passing through the filtration device.

    Abstract: A method for brightening chemical pulps with less than 18% lignin utilizing a magnesium compound in a sodium silicate solution to form a higher percentage of high molecular weight silicates. Such high molecular weight silicates preferentially adsorb transition metal impurities, which, if left in solution, would tend to decompose hydrogen peroxide and organic peroxides. Hydrogen peroxide is added to peroxide and peroxide/oxygen stages, while it is generated, along with organic peroxides during an oxygen stage.

    Abstract: An improved repair bridge for windshield repair which is easier to drag along in proper position, a repair bridge which inherently applies a balanced force on opposite sides of the chip/crack, a bridge which requires substantially less adjustment bolt force, and which is provided with an adjustment bolt force gauge so that even a novice will be able to apply optimum crack spreading force without enlarging the crack. The generally U shaped bridge comprises: a left arm portion, a right arm portion, and a middle portion extending between and connecting the arm portions. Two upright finger bolts are each matingly threaded through an unconnected end portion of one of the arms; and, two plastic suction cups are each carried by a central portion of one of the arms. An upright resin injection head is adjustably screwed through the middle portion.

    Abstract: Despite the disadvantage of reflexing a windshield, and consuming a multiple of the time taken with a single viscosity resin repair; it is generally accepted that most windshield repairs should utilize multiple viscosity resins. The multiple injection head not only eliminates the disadvantages associated with using resins of different viscosities, but additionally produces a smoother and stronger repair. The multiple injection head for injection of resins having different viscosities into a chip/crack comprises: a) a plunger housing having two upright cylindrical openings therethrough, each opening having an upper internally threaded portion and a lower chamber portion; and, b) two generally cylindrical plungers each having an upper portion adapted to be hand turned, and an intermediate portion matingly threaded with the openings.
