  • Publication number: 20200190967
Abstract: One or more images of a tubular being run into a well are captured. The one or more images can be captured by an image sensor. The tubular includes a first tubular section and a second tubular section connected together by a connection. An onsite edge gateway local to the image sensor is configured to perform various operations. Based on the captured one or more images, an elevation of the connection relative to a reference elevation of the well is determined. Based on the determined elevation, an operating condition is determined. It is determined whether the operating condition is included in an automation rule. In response to determining that the automation rule includes the operating condition, a signal is transmitted to drive a controllable device.

  • Publication number: 20200190959
Abstract: Image sensors are positioned around a rig floor. An on-site edge or fog computing gateway is communicably coupled to the image sensors. The on-site edge or fog computing gateway includes one or more processors and a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium coupled to the one or more processors and storing programming instructions for execution by the one or more processors. The programming instructions instruct the one or more processors to do the following: receive an image stream form at least one of the plurality of image sensors; generate, from the image stream, an operating condition; determine that an automation rule includes the operating condition generated from the image stream; in response to determining that an automation rule includes the operating condition, send an instruction to drive a controllable device; and, in response to sending an instruction to drive the controllable device, drive the controllable device.

  • Patent number: 10641079
Abstract: In some aspects, a method includes imaging a casing, completed wellbore, or open wellbore. An integrity problem is with the casing, completed wellbore, or open wellbore is determined based on the imaging. A placement zone for a filler, a filler amount, and filler parameters for the integrity problem is determined. The filler in the filler amount is injected in the placement zone. The filler is solidified at the placement zone.

  • Publication number: 20190257973
Abstract: The present disclosure describes methods and systems for downhole well integrity reconstruction in a hydrocarbon reservoir. One in-situ 3-dimensional (3D) scanner includes a rangefinder configured to measure a distance between a subterranean location and a surface of a well; and a radiance sensor configured to generate a depth map of the subterranean location.

  • Publication number: 20190257187
Abstract: The present disclosure describes methods and systems for downhole well integrity reconstruction in a hydrocarbon reservoir. One method for downhole well integrity reconstruction in a hydrocarbon reservoir includes: positioning, a laser head at a first subterranean location, wherein the laser head is attached to a tubular inside of a wellbore; directing, by the laser head, a laser beam towards a leak on the wellbore; and sealing the leak using the laser beam.

  • Publication number: 20190195035
Abstract: A downhole drilling tool and methods for using the tool include a body with a wall that defines an internal volume, and at least one arm attached to the wall, the at least one arm comprising a channel within a body of each arm. The at least one arm provides fluid paths connecting the internal volume to outside the wall, and the at least one arm is displaceable relative to the wall.
