  • Patent number: 8950307
Abstract: A jig for use in cutting an elongate workpiece with a saw blade features separate first and second guide members, each having a respective slot that passes through the guide member on a path spanning along a lengthwise dimension of the guide member. The paths of the respective slots match one another in shape, and a mounting mechanism is operable to secure each guide member in a tightened position abutted against a respective one of two opposing sides of the workpiece. The elongate workpiece is cuttable cross-wise by insertion of the saw blade through the respective slots on the opposing sides of the workpiece and cutting into the workpiece along the path of the slots. The separate guide members can accommodate workpieces of varying size and shape between them while guiding the blade on two sides of the workpiece for optimal reliability and cut accuracy.
