  • Publication number: 20060242893
Abstract: Injector deposits in a direct injection gasoline engine are reduced by providing as fuel for the operation of said direct injection engine a fuel composition comprising a fuel-soluble compound having the formula (I): wherein R1 and R2 are independently C1-4 alkyl, R3 is a radical of the formula CmH2m wherein m is an integer of 2 to 6, R4 and R5 are each independently (i) hydrogen (ii) C1-4alkyl, wherein R6 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and C1-4 alkyls and R7 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and C1-30 alkyl, (iv) wherein R8 is a saturated or unsaturated, linear, branched or cyclic, C7-23 hydrocarbyl group or (v) wherein R4 and R5 together with the nitrogen atom to which they are bonded, form a cyclic ring in which further hetero atoms.

  • Publication number: 20060025314
Abstract: A fluid composition is described for extreme pressure applications. The fluid composition includes a base oil, and an additive composition comprising sulfurized fatty oil in an amount sufficient to provide at least about 1,000 ppm sulfur to the fluid composition, and dialkyl thiadiazole in an amount sufficient to provide at least about 500 ppm sulfur to the fluid composition. Fluids containing these respective amounts of sulfurized fatty oil and dialkyl thiadiazole exhibit failure loads which equal or exceed about 1750 pounds at 100° C. and 150° C., respectively, as measured according to a Falex EP test of ASTM D-3233.
    Type: Application
    Filed: October 11, 2004
    Publication date: February 2, 2006

  • Publication number: 20050202979
Abstract: A power transmission fluid composition for extreme pressure applications. The power transmission fluid includes a base oil, and an additive composition containing an extreme pressure performance improving amount of an ester of phosphonic acid of the formula: where R1 is a hydrocarbyl group containing from about 8 to about 24 carbon atoms, R2 and R3 are independently selected from hydrogen and a hydrocarbyl group containing from about 1 to about 8 carbon atoms, provided that no more than one of R2 and R3 is hydrogen, a succinimide dispersant, and, optionally, a metal-based detergent. The optional detergent is substantially devoid of calcium cations.
