The plurality of support elements include a pair of foot and knee support subassemblies, a pelvic, back and head support subassembly, and a tray subassembly, each of which is adjustably mounted on the main frame and each of which is provided with additional and independent degrees of adjustability.

    Abstract: Therapeutic exercise apparatus capable of being used by a physical therapist to initiate a number of different postural and equilibrium reactions in the body of a handicapped child with the goal of enhancing the child's ability to maintain balance and proper posture is disclosed. The apparatus consists of a hemisphere having a substantially rigid interior shell surrounded by a molded foam exterior. One end of the hemisphere is substantially flat and the other end is rounded. A removable cover located at the substantially flat end allows access to a hollow internal chamber within the hemisphere. One side of the removable cover is substantially flat and the other side has wheels secured thereto such that the cover may be separately used as a scooter. The cover is selectively attachable to the hemisphere on either side, the opposite side forming a portion of the substantially flat end such that the hemisphere may include wheels at its substantially flat end.

    Abstract: A portable seat support and restraint system intended to be positioned on a conventional seating surface is comprised of a contoured chair having molded base and back portions. The base and back portions form a substantially continuous support surface capable of positioning an occupant's pelvis in a fixed position and properly aligning an occupant's muscles and skeletal frame. In addition, the seat support and restraint system includes an adjustable frame internal to the base and back portions of the contoured chair, independent footrest and tray assemblies adjustably secured to the base portion and a headrest adjustably secured to the back portion of the contoured chair.

    Abstract: A versatile, adjustable stroller for handicapped children, adolescents and adults is disclosed. The stroller includes a contoured seat removably positioned on an adjustable wheeled apparatus. The contoured seat is molded to provide proper anatomical alignment and support for an occupant and constructed so as to be positionable on any conventional seating surface when removed from the wheeled apparatus. The adjustable wheeled apparatus has a one-button adjustment mechanism which allows an attendant to vary the spatial orientation of a seated occupant while simultaneously, automatically adjusting the apparatus to maintain balanced support of the contoured seat and occupant. The stroller is preferrably constructed so as to be capable of traversing a wide variety of terrains and is collapsible for easy transport and/or storage.
