  • Publication number: 20100282493
Abstract: A communication cable is provided with a plurality of twisted pairs of conductors and a matrix tape having conductive segments separated by gaps. The dimensions of the conductive segments are selected to reduce the undesirable coupling of signals between adjacent cables. An insulating layer may be provided between the twisted pairs of conductors and the matrix tape. In some embodiments, the insulating layer is an embossed or perforated film. The use of an embossed or perforated film decreases the dielectric constant of the insulating layer.

  • Publication number: 20100224389
Abstract: Cable foil tape having random or pseudo-random patterns or long pattern lengths of discontinuous metallic shapes and a method for manufacturing such patterned foil tape are provided. In some embodiments, a laser ablation system is used to selectively remove regions or paths in a metallic layer of a foil tape to produce random distributions of randomized shapes, or pseudo-random patterns or long pattern lengths of discontinuous shapes in the metal layer. In some embodiments, the foil tape is double-sided, having a metallic layer on each side of the foil tape, and the laser ablation system is capable of ablating nonconductive pathways into the metallic layer on both sides of the foil tape.

  • Publication number: 20100116521
Abstract: A communications cable is provided with a matrix tape that attenuates alien crosstalk when cables run near one another. The matrix tape is provided with conductive segments. The conductive segments are preferably provided on two layers of the matrix tape. In one embodiment, the conductive segments are attached to a film with an adhesive. A barrier tape is preferably provided between the cable core and the matrix tape.

  • Patent number: 4412627
Abstract: A drawn and ironed can body has a cylindrical side wall and an integral end wall which closes one end of the side wall. The end wall includes a rim that generally curves inwardly from the side wall and a domed central section which closes the area circumscribed by the rim, all such that the rim forms the lowest portion of the can body. The rim is configured such that when the can body is subjected to elevated internal pressures, the rim deforms in a controlled manner, and this deformation causes the domed wall to move axially away from the opposite end of the can body without buckling, thereby increasing the volume of the can body.

  • Patent number: 4383566
Abstract: The invention relates to a multistrip insert, usually comprising three strips side-by-side, for a pneumatic tire, said insert being composed at least in part of a closed cell resilient material constructed and dimensioned to fit ring-like about a wheel rim within the tire. The insert normally fills less than the whole internal cross-sectional volume of the tire but can support the tire against total collapse when deflated. In use, should the tire become deflated, the insert expands to fill or substantially so the internal volume of the tire due to the increase in temperature caused by the increased flexing of the tire and insert. The consequent return to or towards the normal operative tire shape results in the tire subsequently running at or near normal running temperature.
