  • Publication number: 20240114905
Abstract: The composition includes an antimicrobial monomer represented by formula CH2?C(R1)—C(O)—O-Q-N+(R)2CnH2n+1(X—), a non-fluorinated crosslinking monomer having at least two acrylate groups, methacrylate groups, or a combination thereof, a polar monomer having at least one of acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, or a carboxylate salt thereof, and a nonpolar monomer represented by formula CH2?C(R1)—C(O)—O—R2. The antimicrobial monomer, the non-fluorinated crosslinking monomer, the polar monomer, and the nonpolar monomer together account for greater than 95 percent by weight, based on the total weight of the composition. The article includes a film having a plurality of pendent groups represented by formula —C(O)—O-Q-N+(R)2CnH2n+1(X—) covalently bonded in a crosslinked non-fluorinated acrylic network. A method of making an article is also described.

  • Patent number: 5411119
Abstract: An internal shoe-drum type brake has a pair of shoes separable by an actuator into braking engagement with a brake drum. An automatic adjuster includes a two-part strut extending between the shoes, the first strut part being pivotally mounted on the second strut part and cooperating with the latter via teeth on the second part, such that the first strut part is separated from the teeth when excessive shoe separation occurs upon brake actuation and is moved angularly to a new position of adjustment upon brake release. The first strut part is provided with a number of peripheral projections engagable by an external tool to disengage the first part from the teeth of the second part when it is desired to de-adjust the adjuster in order to facilitate drum removal.

  • Patent number: 4887698
Abstract: A mechanical brake actuator for a shoe drum brake including a pair of brake shoes carried by a back plate wherein one pair of adjacent ends of the shoes engage an abutment fixed relative to the back plate, comprises an assembly including a pair of pivotally interconnected parts for co-action respectively with the brake shoes, one part being a force-applying lever engaging one shoe and the other part engaging the other shoe and extending therefrom to the lever to form a pivot member pivotally interconnecting the lever and strut, a pair of rollers on the pivot member, an opening in the abutment, and a pair of spaced surfaces on the abutment on opposite sides of the opening, the rollers being in rolling engagement with the spaced surfaces, and the lever and strut being movably disposed in the opening so that force applied the lever in one direction to pivot the lever about the pivot member urges the one shoe into engagement with the drum and urges the strut to displace the other shoe into engagement with the dru
