Publication number: 20150319328Abstract: Methods, systems and processor-readbale media for preventing a job/set splitting across a stacker. A splitting prevention module can be configured to include a prevent job splitting feature or a prevent set splitting feature. The prevent job splitting feature and the prevent set splitting feature can be selected by a user so that the stacker will not begin stacking the job/set unless the stacker possesses a capacity for stacking the complete job/set. The stacker automatically unloads the job/set with respect to a job/set boundary provided by the user. Such an approach prevents the jobs/sets from being split when the stacker goes full.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 2, 2014Publication date: November 5, 2015Applicant: Xerox CorporationInventors: Paul F. Brown, Gregg A. Bonikowski, Andrew S. McVey, Timothy J. Kelley

Patent number: 8696287Abstract: A method and system for on-demand book production is provided in which covers and book content are synchronized at book binding equipment. In one exemplary system and method, a single printer prints a book cover followed by its corresponding book block. The cover and book block are each sequentially staged and synchronized together for binding in the binding equipment. In another method and system for on-demand book production, covers are printed and encoded at a first printer and a book block printing instruction is initiated in response to decoding of the cover in the binding equipment. Printing of the book block is in a separate but integrated printer and the book block is fed to the binding equipment for binding with the book cover. In each instance, synchronized book covers and book blocks are bound in and output from the binding equipment.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 2006Date of Patent: April 15, 2014Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Gerard R. Publication number: 20130267285Abstract: A web application facilitates live on-line academic competition between teams and individuals based on multiple choice or fill-in-the-blank questions and fosters academic competition between students and schools. Using the software application, a team's Coach may enter his/her team in a league of regular competition, schedule a single competition with another team, or organize a competition between the team's members by dividing the team into multiple teams. The test environment provides the experience of competing over test questions, including a scoreboard that keeps track of progress with respect to the test time and the opponent. Students of comparable abilities on competing teams are matched using a matching algorithm that matches the students based on past test performance and the like.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 4, 2012Publication date: October 10, 2013Inventors: Timothy J. Patent number: 7070215Abstract: A dual function lock, a tilt latch assembly, and tilt latch for use on a hung or double hung window are provided. The lock includes a base, a handle, and a tilt latch actuating mechanism. The tilt latch assembly includes a lock, left and right latches, and an extensible member. The tilt latch actuating mechanism is adapted to receive the extensible member and has a null zone between locked and unlocked positions of the handle. In the null zone, no substantial movement of the extensible member as the handle is rotated from the locked to unlocked positions. The tilt latch actuating mechanism causes the extensible member to move in a direction toward the lock as the handle is rotated from the unlocked position to a tilt position.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2004Date of Patent: July 4, 2006Assignee: Andersen CorporationInventors: Timothy J. Patent number: 5210622Abstract: An electronic reprographic printing system for printing on output sheets of a print job, wherein a set of electronic page images is created, such as by scanning a set of original documents, storing the electronic page images in memory, and wherein certain images are variably shifted on the output sheets. The amount of image shift is dependent upon the size dimensions of the original documents and the size dimensions of the output sheets. This size dependent shifting allows for printing onto output sheets of varying sizes, or scanning from original documents of different sizes, such as from different scanning modes. The variable image shift is particularly useful for printing on tabs where the original documents are all of a standard size, and the images are specially shifted onto the tabs during printing.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 1990Date of Patent: May 11, 1993Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Timothy J.
