Publication number: 20250218232Abstract: A system and method for providing diagnostic information to an end user of an off-road vehicle, such as a combine, is provided. A set of sensors required for an automated system of the off-road vehicle to function at different predetermined automated system functional levels and a display device accessible to the end user is included. A processor in communication with the set of sensors and the display device, cooperates to present a simplified automation status for the off-road vehicle. A memory in communication with the processor stores computer readable instructions for the processor to evaluate an operational status of the sensors, determine the operational status of any required sensor, and determines whether the evaluated operational status of any required sensor is equal to or greater than a threshold required for a lower functional level. A maximum functional level of the required sensor is displayed on the user interface.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 20, 2024Publication date: July 3, 2025Applicant: Deere & CompanyInventors: Mario L. Donini, Daniel Quinn, Carolyn Herman, Brittany Holthausen, Timothy J. Ofenloch, Matthew T. Wold

Patent number: 12344251Abstract: A steering system for controlling a direction of travel of a work machine includes a steering device controllable by an operator of the work machine. The steering device is coupled to an axle of the work machine for controlling an angular orientation of the wheels. A brake is coupled to the steering device and is controllably applied to apply a first amount of resistance to the steering device. A motor is coupled to the steering device and is controllably activated to apply a second amount of resistance to the steering device. A controller controls the steering system of the work machine in at least a first operating mode and a second operating mode. In the first operating mode, the controller controls the brake between an applied position and an unapplied position, whereas in the second operating mode, the controller controls the motor between an active position and a de-activated position.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 2022Date of Patent: July 1, 2025Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: Lowell D. Stutzman, Nathanael K. Rehn, Timothy J. Ofenloch, Jeffrey M. Tott, Suresh Putta, Douglas M. Van Meter, Jordan L Tagtow, Jacyn R. Goebel

Publication number: 20250089612Abstract: A mobile agricultural harvester comprises a grain camera configured to detect grain and generate a camera output indicative of the detected grain, a display screen, one or more processors, memory, and computer executable instructions, stored in the memory, and executable by the one or more processors. The computer executable instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, configure the one or more processors to generate and display on the display screen an interface comprising a grain camera display portion comprising a grain camera display element, a grain characteristic value display portion comprising a grain characteristic value display element indicative of a value of a grain characteristic, and a limit value adjuster display portion comprising an interactable limit value adjuster display element configured to receive operator or user interaction to adjust a limit value of the grain characteristic.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 20, 2023Publication date: March 20, 2025Inventors: Matthew T. Patent number: 11167641Abstract: A method for reconfiguring operator controls of a work vehicle is disclosed. The method comprises providing a user interface operatively coupled to a control device. Displaying one or more displays of an apparatus configuration on a display screen of the user interface, each of the one or more displays including graphics associated with a function of the apparatus. Associating a control output of a control unit of the control device with the function of the apparatus; and dynamically adjusting, by a controller, the control output of the control unit to reconfigure operator controls of the work vehicle in response to a change in the graphics or a change in the relative arrangement of the one or more displays on the display screen.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 2019Date of Patent: November 9, 2021Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: Mark Catron, Timothy J Ofenloch, Joshua D. Hoffman, Ryan G. Brown, Mario L. Donini

Patent number: 11068015Abstract: A variable track joystick device includes a support housing, a joystick movable with respect to the support housing, and a joystick guidance mechanism controllable to selectively confine joystick movement to a predetermined track pattern. During operation of the variable joystick device, a controller determines when the variable track joystick device is placed in a selected one of (i) a first mode in which joystick movement controls the first work vehicle function and (ii) a second mode in which joystick movement controls the second work vehicle function. The controller further commands the joystick guidance mechanism to restrict joystick movement to the predetermined track pattern when the joystick device is placed in the first mode, while permitting joystick movement outside of the predetermined track pattern when the joystick device is placed in the second mode.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 2019Date of Patent: July 20, 2021Assignee: DEERE & COMPANYInventors: Timothy J. Ofenloch, Joshua D. Hoffman, Ryan G. Brown, Kevin A. Wolff, Mario L. Donini
