  • Publication number: 20100333188
Abstract: An address-hopping method is provided to enhance security in computer networks. In embodiments, the method is carried out at a network node and includes storing an IP address that is temporarily valid as a destination address for the node; sequentially updating the stored IP address, at least at specified intervals of time, with new values that are each temporarily valid; and conditionally accepting or rejecting incoming packets according to whether there is a match between the destination IP address of the incoming packet and the temporarily valid IP address currently stored in the memory.

  • Publication number: 20090088132
Abstract: An exemplary method of monitoring unauthorized use of wireless communications within a selected location in which a plurality of communication devices conduct authorized communications through an authorized network includes detecting any unauthorized wireless access points using at least one of the communication devices that is also configured as a sensor for detecting any unauthorized wireless access points within a range of the at least one communication device. An indication of a detected unauthorized wireless access point is provided by the at least one communication device. An approximate location of the detected unauthorized wireless access point is determined based on an identification of the at least one communication device and information regarding a location of the at least one communication device.

  • Publication number: 20080037440
Abstract: A method of detecting voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) traffic utilizes filtering criteria based on assumed packet header information. In a disclosed example, a combination of filtering criteria is based upon an assumption that VoIP traffic will be transported using the Real time Transport Protocol (RTP). In one example, if a correct RTP version is being used and a CSRC count is as expected, a packet is determined to be VoIP traffic. In another example, when a UDP header indicates a payload length within a specified range, UDP ports are both even-numbered, the RTP version is correct and the CSRC count is correct, a packet is determined to be VoIP traffic.
