  • Patent number: 9611122
Abstract: A filament dispenser includes a spool, hub, and an axle. The axle is laterally movable from a first position to a second position. The axle is independently rotatable with respect to the spool. In the extended position, the axle may be attached to a second spool, forming an assembly of operably-coupled filament dispensers. In the assembly, the connected spools are independently rotatable.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 11, 2012
Date of Patent: April 4, 2017
    Assignee: Scientific Anglers LLC
Inventors: Russell E. Blette, Arthur V. Lang, Timothy J. Pommer, Dale R. Wiehe
  • Patent number: 9549744
Abstract: A spinal probe comprises a handle, a shaft coupled to the handle and a force sensor to detect forces applied to a tip of the shaft. A controller that executes a predictive algorithm to predict whether or not the tip of the shaft is going to breach a cortex of a pedicle based on the detected forces. The controller may be embedded within the spinal probe or external within a computer or other device coupled to the probe by a data acquisition component.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: January 24, 2017
Assignee: Regents of the University of Minnesota
Inventors: Timothy J. Pommer, David W. Polly, Jr., David J. Nuckley, Evan M. Gustafson, Charles Gerald Tan Ledonio, Arthur G. Erdman
  • Patent number: 9267674
Abstract: A solid state light having a solid state light source such as LEDs, a light guide having an enclosed interior volume such as a bulb shape without vents, and a thermal guide. The light guide is coupled to the light source for receiving and distributing light from the light source. The thermal guide is at least partially contained within the interior volume with an air gap between a portion of the thermal guide and the light guide. The thermal guide provides for thermal conduction from the light source and dissipating heat through convection and radiation for cooling the light.

Date of Patent: February 23, 2016
    Assignee: 3M INNOVATIVE PROPERTIES COMPANY
Inventors: Raymond P. Johnston, Charles N. Devore, Martin J. Vos, Paul E. Humpal, Robert L. Brott, Kayla A. Hagens, Hamid R. Mortazavi, James F. Poch, Michael A. Meis, Timothy J. Pommer

  • Publication number: 20140283664
Abstract: A filament dispenser (10) includes a spool (20), hub (22), and axle (30). The axle is laterally movable from a first position to a second position. The axle is independently rotatable with respect to the spool. In the extended position, the axle may be attached to a second spool (10?), forming an assembly of operably-coupled filament dispensers. In the assembly, the connected spools are independently rotatable.
