  • Patent number: 10611221
Abstract: A profile element is provided for connecting a window pane to an auxiliary device. The profile element includes first and second legs formed from rigid polymer material and that collectively define a U-shaped retention cavity. A resilient knee element is connected to a leading end of the first leg, and a rigid detent element is connected to the knee element opposite the connection to the first leg. The rigid detent element extends into the retention cavity and is configured to snap into locking engagement with a fastening dart on the auxiliary device, to provide an audible and tactile snap that can confirm proper assembly of the elements. The second leg does not deflect relative to the first leg during installation or extraction of the auxiliary device, and the rigid contact points produced at the retention cavity enable lateral movements of the auxiliary device when necessary.

  • Patent number: 7950716
Abstract: A motor vehicle window panel has a peripheral trim molding formed by an extruded body of plastics material, and the body includes a mounting flange and a vehicle body sealing flange integrally connected by an intermediate connecting portion. The mounting flange carries a pressure sensitive contact adhesive tape which bonds to an inner surface of the window panel, and the intermediate connecting portion has an internal stabilizing strip and a durometer greater than the durometer of the mounting flange and of the sealing flange. The molding may be supported within a fixture for receiving the window panel or may carry a tear-off locating flange which slides against an edge surface of the window panel to locate the molding on the panel. The mounting flange may carry a spacer rib, and the mounting flange, sealing flange and connecting portion are located inwardly of the inner surface of the window panel.

  • Publication number: 20100320797
Abstract: A molding is extruded of plastics materials and includes a first body portion adhesively attached to a bottom edge portion of a motor vehicle windshield and a second body portion defining a cavity which receives a projecting dart portion of a removable cowl panel located adjacent the windshield. The molding includes a co-extruded flexible tooth portion having a durometer different from the durometer of the first and second body portions. The tooth portion projects into the cavity to retain the dart portion of the cowl panel, but flexes downwardly when the dart portion is inserted into the cavity and flexes upwardly when the dart portion is pulled or peeled upwardly from the cavity when removing the cowl panel. The first body portion may extend around the edge portion of the windshield or may be attached to only an inner surface and an edge surface of the windshield.

  • Patent number: 7651150
Abstract: A motor vehicle window panel has a trim molding formed by an extruded body of plastics material, and the body includes a mounting flange, a locating flange and a vehicle body panel sealing flange. The mounting flange carries a pressure sensitive contact adhesive tape which bonds to an inner surface of the window panel after the locating flange engages an outer edge surface of the window panel. The body is preferably extruded with a weakened zone at the base of the locating flange to permit convenient tear removal of the locating flange either before or after the molding and window panel are attached to the vehicle body panel. The sealing flange may be extruded with a lower durometer material, and an internal reinforcement strip and a spacer flange may be extruded with the mounting flange. The locating flange may be curved or flat with a projecting lip to facilitate removal.

  • Patent number: 6951236
Abstract: A plurality of elongated shutter slats of extruded rigid plastics material have co-extruded cores of rigid plastics foam material, and injection molded plastic end caps are attached to opposite ends of each slat. The end caps have elongated flat base portions and retention lugs with head portions integrally connected to the base portion by reduced neck portions. The lugs of the end caps are retained within undercut channels in extruded metal side rails. In one embodiment, each end cap is secured to a slat by screws extending through two retention lugs and into the foam core. In another embodiment, the end caps are secured to hollow slats by integrally molded bosses which project into cavities within hollow slats and are cemented to the walls of the slat.
