  • Patent number: 11903005
Abstract: A method is provided for operating a station for simultaneous communication over: a first, Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) Radio Access Network (RAN) using a first carrier signal; and a second, Time Division Duplex (TDD) RAN using a second carrier signal at a higher frequency than a frequency of the first carrier signal, wherein transmissions from the station using the first carrier signal cause interference to reception at the station over the second, TDD RAN. The method comprises aligning a timing of transmissions from the station over the first, FDD RAN to a timing for transmissions from the station over the second, TDD RAN.

  • Patent number: 11381359
Abstract: A structure of a transmission time frame for Time Division Duplex (TDD) two-way communication over a frequency bandwidth is provided. The transmission time frame is assigned for a first direction of communication and is temporally divided into a plurality of transmission symbols. A fraction of the frequency bandwidth for a selected transmission symbol from the plurality of transmission symbols is assigned to a second direction of communication, the second direction being opposite to the first direction.

  • Patent number: 8914057
Abstract: A system and method are provided for operating a cellular communications network including a first base station and a second base station. The method comprises reducing the downlink transmission power of the second base station and increasing the downlink transmission power of the first base station, based upon the level of data traffic being communicated through the second base station; and receiving an initial uplink transmission from a mobile station at the second base station and identifying that the second base station can provide a communications service to the mobile station.

  • Patent number: 8774823
Abstract: A method and system are disclosed for operation of a cellular network comprising a first base station, a second base station and a mobile station being served by the first base station. Load information is received from the second base station at the mobile station, the load information indicating a load placed on the resources of the second base station and a load indication based on the received load information is communicated from the mobile station to the first base station. The first base station may be a macrocell base station and the second base station may be a non-planned or femtocell base station.

  • Patent number: 8634845
Abstract: The mobile telecommunications network (n) has at least one mobile terminal (1) registered therewith. The network (n) has an active communication state with the mobile terminal (1) and an inactive communication state with the mobile terminal (1). Means Q; V for calculating an indication of the movement of the mobile terminal (1) within the network (n) in each of the states is provided. One embodiment is characterized in that, when the communication changes from a first of the states to a second of the states, the mobility indication calculated in the first of the states is used in the second of the states. In another embodiment, the indication of movement of the mobile terminal is calculated periodically at a time interval (CMCL). A value (DRX Cycle Length) which determines this time interval (CMCL) is transmitted by the network (n) to the mobile terminal (1).

  • Patent number: 8620336
Abstract: Controlling access by a User Equipment (UE) to a cellular network may be effected by: receiving an instruction at the UE from a base station of the cellular network regarding transmission by the UE over a Random Access Channel (RACH) of the cellular network; and controlling when transmissions are made from the UE over the RACH, on the basis of the received instruction. In some cases, a transmission over the RACH may be made in response to the received instruction, which gives permission for the UE to transmit if it has data to send. In other cases, the instruction specifies a Group Identifier, which is compared with a Group Identifier specific to the UE and transmission over the RACH may be avoided based on the comparison. In particular, the UE may be a Machine Type Communication device.
