  • Patent number: 6959885
Abstract: A double-wound center-feed roll is disclosed which is formed from at least two webs each having lines of weakness which allow the webs to be separated into a plurality of sheets. The lines of weakness of one web are offset from those of the other such that in use the sheets can be dispensed singly from alternate webs. A first portion of the webs at the center of the roll is lightly bonded together while a second portion of the webs on the outside of the roll remains unbonded. The center-feed roll of the present invention reduces the occurrence of both web orientation reversal and streaming dispensing problems.

  • Publication number: 20030131919
Abstract: A method of simultaneously laminating and imprinting a pattern on a web formed substantially from cellulosic material, using at least two plies or layers, and superposing the plies and passing the plies past an ultrasonic bonder and a patterned anvil roll to simultaneously produce either substantially imprinted patterned and bonded areas over the superposed plies or substantially patterned perforations and bonded areas over the superposed plies.

  • Patent number: 6550635
Abstract: A portable folded wiper dispensing system for dispensing flexible sheets from a stack of sheets. The system includes a refillable apparatus and a stack of sheets. The refillable apparatus is composed of: 1) a relatively flat, flexible base devoid of dispensing slots, the flexible base being adapted to resiliently fold along a fold axis; and 2) a flexible cover defining an opening aligned in parallel relation to the fold axis of the flexible base such that the flexible cover is attached to said flexible base and is adapted to contain a stack of sheets. The opening defines a dispensing slot through which flexible sheets may be individually dispensed while the flexible base remains unfolded. When the flexible base is folded back along the fold axis, the opening defines a refill gap through which a stack of flexible sheets may be inserted.

  • Patent number: 6548741
Abstract: An optimum time has been discovered for obtaining porcine oocytes with improved developmental competence. Harvested oocytes are matured by culturing in vitro, and then activated ˜42-46 hours after beginning of the culture period. Alternatively, ovulation is induced in a donor female using a gonadotrophic hormone (optionally monitored by ultrasonography), maturation is allowed to proceed in vivo, and then the harvested oocyte is activated ˜44-48 hours after inducing ovulation. Outside the optimal time frame, the ability of the oocytes to undergo parthenogenetic activation declines markedly. These methods overcome problems encountered with previous protocols for nuclear transfer and assisted reproduction in the pig.

  • Patent number: 6179235
Abstract: The center feed roll may include a wound sheet material having lessened wound tension due to exposure to moisture. This exposure may prevent the inward collapse of sheet material into the core of the center feed roll.

  • Patent number: 6145782
Abstract: A dispenser for center feed roll products includes a base and a cover adapted to fit the base. The cover further defines a cavity to receive the center feed roll product. The base further includes a roll platform and a securing means. The securing means defining an aperture is coupled to the roll platform and is adapted to support a center feed roll product. In addition, the securing means permits the installation of a roll product through the aperture and prevents the removal of the roll product.

  • Patent number: 5884804
Abstract: A dispenser for individually dispensing sheets of material from a column of sheets of material formed by a plurality of vertically stacked, folded sheets of material is provided. The dispenser is sized for receiving a plurality of vertically stacked, folded sheets of material and includes a bottom surface, a forward wall, a rear wall. The forward wall and the rear wall are separated by spaced-apart side walls. The bottom surface defines a discharge opening having a length dimension greater than a width dimension. The discharge opening is orientated such that the length dimension is generally in a transverse orientation with respect to the orientation of the forward wall. The plurality of vertically stacked, folded sheets of material within the housing are supported by the bottom surface. Each sheet includes a leading edge and a trailing edge separated by spaced-apart side edges.
