  • Publication number: 20220107763
Abstract: In one example, a method for an inkjet web printer includes a print engine printing a first print job on a moving first web, a printer controller receiving a second print job, the printer controller determining that the second print job may be printed after the first print job on a second web automatically spliced to the moving first web, a web supply automatically splicing the second web to the moving first web, the printer controller reconfiguring the print engine from a first configuration for the first print job to a second configuration for the second print job without stopping the moving first web or the moving second web, and the print engine printing the second print job on the moving second web.

  • Patent number: 11294605
Abstract: In one example, an inkjet web printer includes a print engine and a controller programmed to determine that a second print job following a first print job may be printed without stopping the web and, without stopping the web, cause the print engine to print the second print job.

  • Patent number: 8844784
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method for controlling drive settings in a press for printing on a web of media. A drive is provided to receive the web from an upstream location and to transport the received web downstream of the drive at a controllable speed. The speed of the drive is sampled plural times while operating the drive in a tension control mode that varies the speed to maintain a desired tension in the web adjacent the drive. An optimal speed of the drive is calculated from the sampled speeds. The drive is operated in a constant velocity mode at the optimal speed during printing.

  • Patent number: 8696082
Abstract: Expansion effects of moisture on media resulting from ejection of fluid by the fluid-ejection device onto the media within a print zone in accordance with a portion of a print job are inferred. In response to inferring the expansion effects of moisture on the media, an action is performed to counteract the expansion effects of moisture on the media.

  • Patent number: 8052272
Abstract: A first roller has a first roller center line; a second roller has a second roller center line. Fluid-ejection mechanisms eject fluid onto the media as the media is rolled past the rollers, and include first mechanisms and second mechanisms. The first mechanisms include first and second printheads, at least substantially equally between which a first positioning line is defined. The second mechanisms include third and fourth printheads, at least substantially equally between which a second positioning line is defined. The fluid-ejection mechanisms are disposed opposite to the roller and are positioned such that the first and second positioning lines are located between the first and second roller center lines, the first and the third printheads are not completely located between the first and the second roller center lines, and the second and the fourth printheads are completely located between the first and the second roller center lines.
